Rainbow || Bella Blvd

Good morning, everyone!  Wanted to pop in here this morning to share my take on mixing collections for a cold weather layout that was on the Bella Blvd blog yesterday.

We don't really get snow where we are (the desert) and we usually don't even get much rain.  Whenever it does rain, my little one gets really excited.  On this particular day, it was very cold outside and started raining.  Everyone was pretty miserable...except for her!  She was trying to catch raindrops on her tongue!  Her behavior was so joyous and fun.

I decided to highlight that fact...and do something that also coordinated with her jacket. I combined the new Squeeze the Day collection with the older Illustrated Faith collection, You are Loved.  The two complement each other so well!  I created my own cut file, painted a rainbow on top and backed it with the black paper from the Bella Besties collection.  I then added minimal embellishments from the Squeeze the Day collection.  Here's what I whipped up:

Paper Issues Take 5

Good morning everyone!  Happy weekend!  I'm popping in here this morning to share my newest Paper Issues layout with you - this one is for the Take 5 challenge!  Here is this month's board:

I had so much fun with this one.  I'm really missing summer and the beach, so I decided to scrap one of our photos from our last Summer vacation.

To begin, I pulled out a striped paper from my stash to cut out my heart and stitched that down.  Then I added a bunch of Maggie Holmes' Sunny Days embellishments.  I added a smidge of paint on three sides of my layout and sprinkled around some mist, enamel dots and sequins to complete the look:

From the list I ended up using enamel dots, chipboard (the blue alphas), sequins, mist, paint and the color black.

I really hope you can play along with us this month...and as always, don't forget that each design team member has a code that you can use to save 20% off your store purchase - mine is KAT20.

Bella Blvd January Mood Board

Good morning everyone!  Just popping in this morning to share with you my most recent layout for Bella Blvd.  We're starting something new and every month, you'll be given a mood board to get your creative juices flowing...and this is mood board week!  I'm pretty excited because I definitely love a good mood board.  Here is this month's mood board:

The colors reminded me a lot of the "Hand in Hand" patterned paper from the Illustrated Faith All People, All Nations collection, so I did manage to work a smidge of that into my layout.  I was also very inspired by the star garland, so I used that as my main jumping off point.

I began by using the IF paints to create a brushstroke base for my photos and then die cute a bunch of stars.  I strung the stars on some coordinating embroidery floss and glued it all down...then added my photos and a few random embellishments to complete the look.

Here's my whole layout:

Monochromatic Fanatic || Paper Issues

Good morning everyone!  Paper Issues has a brand new monthly challenge and I'm so excited about this one!  Every month we'll be given a color and mood board to make our monochromatic layout.  We're starting the year off with a rather difficult one, but trust me, it is oh-so-fun!!

Here is the board:

So, this month is all about white, but I used those little pops of grey and black to anchor my design.  I also plan on using this challenge as a stash-busting adventure each month...so I had a lot of fun digging through my stuff to find the white papers and embellishments I was going to use for this one.

In addition to my stash, I also used a beautiful Alexandra Renke paper, which is fairly new to the shop and the Time to Fly free cut file!  Here's my layout:

I really love that I stepped way outside my comfort zone for this one.  It's my first layout of the new year and I'm really pleased to be starting the year off by pushing myself a little bit!  I hope you can play along with us!

Also, don't forget that every DT girl has a code for 20% off the entire store.  My code is KAT20.  :)

My 2020 #52favorites Plan

Good morning everyone!  I'm excited for a new year and fresh projects, including a new #52favorites album!  For those unfamiliar with the project, #52favorites is a Paper Issues project and it encourages you to keep an album of weekly favorite memories.  I've tailored mine a little bit to be Piper-specific, and I do the #52favoritesofpiper :)

I know I don't share a lot of my #52favorites spreads over here, but it's definitely my favorite project of the year and I participate every week.  I do post all my spreads to my IG account here.  Here are a few of my spreads from last year:

This will be my third year doing the project and I feel like I've found a set-up that really works for me.  I'm sharing in case it inspires someone to participate this year.  I know everyone works differently and my set-up will not be for everyone, but it's such a fun project that I want to encourage people to participate :)

Here are my essentials:

-We R Memory Keepers Typewriter - this was a gift from my husband a few years ago and I LOVE it - definitely one of the best gifts he's ever gotten me :)
-We R Memory Keepers 4x4 albums - I really love this size.  It's easy to work with and I feel like I can make my pages as simple - or as fancy - as I want.  I used 2 4x4 albums for my 2019 project.
-Tim Holtz tiny attacher.  I love to staple things, y'all.
-Pretty Little Studio labels...you'll find these on almost every spread I do.  They are cut-aparts, so it's easy to load them into the typewriter, then cut them out afterwards
-Date stamp
-Sequins - my favorite shop is SpiegelMom Scraps

Other essentials not pictured include lots of tiny alpha stickers (I like the Florence Alphas by Bella Blvd and the super small puffy stickers from Pinkfresh Studio), phrase stickers, and my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool.  The fuse tool is nice for when I decide I want to make shaker pockets out of my pages.

And here's a look at my 2020 title page:

I hope  you're inspired to play along - it really is such a fun challenge!
