Monochromatic challenge

Hey, all! Today it was my turn to post a challenge at Just C & S. Yay!

The challenge: scrap a layout using only one color. You can use neutral color alphas and tiny accents like bling or pearls, but try to keep everything else to different shades of the same color. For an extra challenge, use a color that you are not entirely comfortable with. Mine is purple…I love the color, but I don’t use it in scrapping a lot. Here is my layout:
Thanks for stopping by...and head over to Just C & S to play along with the day's challenge!

Recycle!

Hey, all!

The Friday challenge is now posted at Just C & S. The challenge this week: recycle! Use at least two recycled products on your layout/project and use the colors brown/kraft, green and white. Here is my take:
My recycled products are the Prima packaging and the newspaper. I stuck to the color pallete, except cheated a tiny bit with my touches of black (oopsies...). Hop on over to Just C & S to see what the rest of the design team did.

And...have a HAPPY WEEKND.

Paint splatters

Hey, all...

I realized that it has been awhile since I did a "random inspiration" post. Today, I am going to share the art of the paint splatter. If you've been following me for awhile, you know that I LOVE paint splatters...and here are a few examples of how paint splatters can work on almost anything:

Just C & S sketch #9

Hey, all!

I hope you had a nice weekend...there is a new sketch posted at Just C & S to get your week started off. Here is my take on it:

I had fun with this one...I've missed doing my "grid" layouts and I love that I got to use some of my old Crate Paper "Lemongrass" collection. I love the colors in it.

Head on over to Just C & S to see the other takes on the sketch.

Have a nice work week!

Sequins and Paint, oh my!

Hello!

I have a quick layout to share with you this morning. I originally made this for a Scrap Outside the Box prompt asking us to use sequins, but since our work was never posted for that challenge, I decided it was okay to finally share :o) Here it is:
I really do love scrapping with sequins...and paint. I always get fun results when I combine the two.

Thanks for stopping by...and have a lovely weekend!

Puzzling...

Hey, everyone! Happy, happy Friday (thank goodness!).

The newest prompt is up at Just C & S. The challenge: create a layout where you cut your pictures. I had a lot of fun with this challenge and knew instantly what I wanted to do:

CS #121

Good Sunday Morning to ya! You know what Sunday mornings mean! A new sketch is posted over at Creative Scrappers, which is pretty much one of my favorite scrapping sites ever. Here is my take on the newest sketch: This layout is a little weird for me because it is totally not my style. But I think I like it...I'm still a little undecided, though. I've had that Sassafras "Amplify" paper for a while...and I really like it; I just never use it. So, I decided to branch out and just go for it. You'll have to let me know what you think... Have you scrapped outside of your normal box recently?

Happy B-Day, America!

Wait...what? It's not America's birthday....no, it's not, but that is what my layout is about. The newest challenge is up at The Studio Challenges and the challenge is to scrap about a birthday...so I decided to scrap about the cake that Eric and I tried to decorate on the 4th of July. Here it is:

And there are those awesome stars again from the Perfectly Precocious Etsy shop. They were perfect for this layout. You should seriously go check out Tessa's shop for some other fun products. I know I sound like I'm putting in a pitch for her shop, but I literally have no tie to it, so I'm a reliable source...I promise! :o)

I also journaled on this layout way more than I usually do...I guess I felt the need to explain the terribly decorated (but yummy!) cake. The journaling reads, "For A.J.'s 4th of July party, Eric & I were assigned to bring the dessert. We got the big idea of buying an ice cream cake and decorating it ourselves. As you can tell from the picture, our cake decorating skills leave a lot to be desired. Our "lovely" cake just proves that the people who decorate cakes for a living are way more talented than Eric or I will ever be. The dessert was delicious, though...and it served its purpose - to say "Happy b-day, America!" I'm glad that I scrapped this picture, because this is such a fun memory for me. And to be fair, only one of us was actually bad at decorating the cake - me! Eric was great at writing with the icing, while I struggled quite a bit. Boys and their weird hidden talents...has anyone else noticed that?? Oh well...

Have a nice day...thanks for stopping in!

Shirts and haircuts

Hey, everyone!

What have you been up to lately? I have been making a shirt! That's right...making my own shirt. Well, I didn't make the actual shirt part - I bought that at Target, but I did embellish it. I have been taking Elizabeth Kartchner's online class called "Piece by Piece." We took a shirt, cloth flowers and butterflies and begin putting everything together piece by piece. It has been a great class. I have never embellished an article of clothing before so it was fun to learn something totally new. Here is a close-up of the shirt:
The other thing I have been up to is getting my hair cut. I'm sure you do not care at all, but I got 7 inches cut off my hair! I feel so much lighter. Haha. Although, I am having a really hard time remembering how to style my hair when it was shorter. It was easy when it was long...I just curled the ends or threw it up in a messy bun. Oh well...I'll figure it all out again soon. :-)

As always, thanks for stopping by... And if you get bored, stop by Elizabeth's blog for some fun inspiration and ideas. I, personally, am a fan of the balloon in a box.

Just C & S sketch #6

Did you see this fun sketch that was posted at Just C & S last week?
I love it! And...since it's a long weekend here in the U.S., I finally got to play with it. Here are the results:
I am loving that Echo Park line ("A Walk in the Park"), too. Although, recently, I am loving all my scrappy products...but I wouldn't have it any other way. And I am quite proud of myself for using some of that butterfly paper. It was my favorite piece of paper in the collection...and usually I hoard my favorites...but not this time...I'm getting better :)
Thanks for stopping by...enjoy your day!!

CS #120

Hey, everyone! I hope your weekend is going well (and if you're in the U.S....your long weekend!).

I have another layout to share with you that's based on the newest Creative Scrappers sketch. It was fun to play with. Here's what I came up with:

I scrapped some more of my kayaking pictures from July and I used some more of my We R Memory Keepers 72 & Sunny. Have I mentioned how much I love that paper? I really love the glitter in it...too fun :)

Have a fabulous rest of the weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

ScrapStreet!

Hey, all...hope the work week is going well...

The September issue of ScrapStreet Magazine is out now...and one of my layouts is actually in it. I'm kinda psyched. :o)

Here is the layout:
I also have a sketch to go along with this layout...you can find it in my original post here.

Enjoy your day!
