The Studio || Old Stash Challenge

Good morning, everyone!  There is a new challenge up at The Studio today and it's a fun one - if you've been scrapping for awhile, you probably have a giant stash.  I'm definitely a paper hoarder and I have papers from years ago.  The challenge today - use up some of that old stash!

I used one of my favorite collections from one of my favorite old companies - the "Count Me In" collection from Sassafras.  I was so sad when they went out of business.  

I did think the cute number papers were perfect for a layout about putt-putt with big niece...

So, go ahead!  Dig into your stash, use up some of those old supplies (it makes room for new ones!) and play along with us at The Studio!!

Sassafras Challenges

Hi, everyone! This past week Sassafras posted 4 challenges on their blog in celebration of CHA. I participated in 2. The first one was a color challenge. And I scraplifted an awesome layout (by Melissa Mann) I found on the web and pinned here (God Bless, Pinterest!). I really loved the 3 boxes, so that is the element that I took from the layout. Here is what I created:
The second challenge I played along with asked us to use our alphabet stickers in a way other than a title, so I created this little layout that took me less than 10 minutes to create:

No supply list today. Everything in both layouts is Sassafras, except the tag in the top layout (and I'm not sure where that came from) and the white alphabet stickers in the second layout, which are from American Crafts.

July Sassafras Challenge

Hi, everyone! I hope your weekend went well. I got some "scrappy time" in and decided to play along with this month's Sassafras challenge. The challenge is to mix lines. Here is what I came up with: In this layout I used "Vintage Yummy" for the background, then "Sweetly Smitten," "Count Me In," and "Sassafras for Studio Calico" for the backing on the picture. I also used Sassafras brads all over the layout. I had a fun time making this layout and am pretty satisfied with the results. I was also inspired by this awesome layout by Felicitas Klink. Fun, fun, FUN!

I also dug through my scraps for this one. I have soooo many scraps laying around and Amy Heller has inspired me to use them up. She has a summer challenge going on right now, encouraging scrappers to use those items that have been laying around forever (like those Sassafras brads...I think they are at least a year and half old).

April House of Art Kit

Happy Saturday Morning!! The new House of Art kit is out. Here it is: And here are the projects I made with it: The above picture is of my Grandmother...she was a U.S. Marine during World War II. Isn't that awesome?? This kit is so, so much fun!! I really do love it. And how happy was I that it came with paint?? In other news, I caved and got a Pinterest account. Umm...I love it. Playing with Studio Calico

Good morning, everyone!

I am lucky enough to have a long weekend this week (yay for Presidents' birthdays), so I've had the opportunity to be crafty. Besides doing some design team assignments, I've also had the chance to play with the Metropolitan kit from Studio Calico. Even though I bought the kit a few weeks ago, this is the first real chance I've had to take it out and play. *sigh.* This is my PERFECT kit. I love the colors and the embellies (my love for the Sassafras flowers is strong!).

Punky Scraps Challenge #6

2 challenges, 1 layout

I have been feeling super, super "scrappy" this weekend and I have more time today to be scrappy...love these lazy weekends :-)

Today I am playing along with 2 challenges: The Studio Challenges and These are a Few of my Favorite Things. The Studio Challenges is having a sketch challenge, with the smaller challenge of using handmade embellishments. TAAFOMFT is asking that we scrap one of our favorite games. I combined the two to make this:

I just hope putting together puzzles counts as a game. I think it does, though...

And here are some close-ups of some of my handmade embellishments. I don't do a lot of the handmade thing, but this was pretty fun, so I may try to start incorporating my own embellies into my projects a bit more.

Butterfly Madness

Good morning, everyone!

This weekend I channeled my inner Elizabeth Kartchner. I am a particularly big fan of her trademark style of layering butterflies and tickets and I thought that I would give it a try. I don't pull it off nearly as well as she does, but I thought it was a good jumping off point. I used her beautiful layout, found here, as my inspiration. Here is what I came up with:I was also excited to finally play with some of my new Christmas presents: The Indie Girl line by Sassafras and that sweet Martha Stewart butterfly punch. I LOVE this punch...and think I am becoming a bit butterfly-obsessed...I went somewhat butterfly crazy this weekend...you'll see what I mean in the coming months, but maybe they'll be spaced out enough that you won't be able to tell ;-)

Just C & S sketch #14

Hi, everyone! I hope that you had a nice weekend...mine was way too short...oh well :-)

I think the Sassafras paper whimsies were perfect for this sketch. And isn't that picture hilarious? Eric is always making funny faces in photos and I am always totally oblivious...

Rain, rain go away...

Good morning, all! It is rainy and icky where I am. I hope it is nice and sunny where you are. I actually LOVE rainy days, just not when I have to go to work. Rainy days make me want to snuggle up with a good book or take a nice long nap!

I have a quick layout to share with you:
You are going to be seeing a lot of Sassafras on my layouts, as I bought one of their mystery boxes and it was chock full of yumminess. Also, see that cute felt flower in the top right corner? That is one of Toni's lovely creations. I used this one because I wanted it to look like concentric circles and not necessarily a flower...Max is a boy doggy after all. Good Sunday Morning to ya! You know what Sunday mornings mean! A new sketch is posted over at Creative Scrappers, which is pretty much one of my favorite scrapping sites ever. Here is my take on the newest sketch: This layout is a little weird for me because it is totally not my style. But I think I like it...I'm still a little undecided, though. I've had that Sassafras "Amplify" paper for a while...and I really like it; I just never use it. So, I decided to branch out and just go for it. You'll have to let me know what you think... Have you scrapped outside of your normal box recently?

Quick Layout

Hey, all! I have some quick layouts to share with you. First off, I scraplifted an awesome layout that I saw in the newest edition of "Srapbook Inspirations Idea Book." The layout I scraplifted was on page 127 and was done by Laura Buckingham. I added my own twist to the layout, but I got the ideas of outlining around my white papers and making the patterned papers crooked from her layout. You should check out this magazine...it's so much fun! And I love the Sassafras Nerdy Bird paper (the turquoise with loops on it)...Here is my layout:And here is another really quick, somewhat unimpressive layout that I did, also using the Nerdy Bird collection:

Nerdy Bird...

Hey, all! I got some new Sassafras paper...and I LOVE it. The "Nerdy Bird" collection is so much fun. The colors and graphics are fabulous. I did a product search at Scrapbook.com to try to get some fun ideas for using my new Sassafras and came across this amazing layout by Tracie Hudson. I just fell in love with it the instant I saw it and knew that I wanted to scraplift it. I actually used the same Sassafras paper and the same background color that she did. I love how she used all the Nerdy Bird embellies, but I didn't want to completely copy her layout, so I dove into my stash and used some different items. Here's what I created...a little layout about my guy & I at my best friend's wedding:

I am also totally into those Maya Road chipboard hearts that I just bought. They come in all different shapes and sizes...too fun! I can't wait to play around with this "Nerdy Bird" collection some more. Until next time, happy kraftin'!!
