Fun with Vellum || Pretty Little Studio

Hello everyone!  I wanted to pop in and share a layout that I had up on the Pretty Little Studio blog yesterday.  I was challenged to use vellum on a project and this is what I came up with:

I know I just posted a project with the "Plus Infinity" cut file from The Cut Shoppe, but I loved it so much that I just had to use it again.  I cut the file down so it was centered in my page and then I backed it with a fun sheet of vellum from the Treasure Island collection.

Also, I totally love those gold doilies - I think this is my second project in a month where I scattered them all over the page - such a fun effect - I think!

Thanks for popping by!!

So Fabulous || The Cut Shoppe

Hey everyone!  I am up on The Cut Shoppe blog this morning with my last layout as a design team member.

For my last layout for The Cut Shoppe I decided to combine an old favorite with a newer file.  I ADORE the Plus Infinity background cut file and I've wanted to use it for awhile, but didn't have any good ideas.  And then we moved recently and I was forced to go through all my scrapbook stash and found some pretty glitter paper buried at the bottom of a paper pile.  I was inspired to create this bling-ed out layout about my niece:

For my title I used the This & That cut file - I think it pairs perfectly with the bling-ed out background!

And here's a close up with the light reflecting off the page so you can see just how glittery it is.  I LOVE it because it highlights my niece's personality so well - she sparkles and shines so brightly!

Here are the files I used in this layout:

I also just want to take this time to quickly thank Ashley for having me on the team for the last few months.  I had such a great time and it was such a fun opportunity!  I can't wait to see what new files she creates in the coming months!!

Bella Blvd || Pinterest Inspired

Good morning, everyone!  I am up on the Bella Blvd blog this morning with a really fun post.  We were given an awesome Pinterest image to use as inspiration for our projects:

I love this image!!  I really loved the color combo and all the fun little patterns that were incorporated into the card. Because of the great color palette I decided to use the new Fresh Market collection to highlight photos of my adorable niece eating watermelon:

I just love all the great colors and patterns that Stephanie creates for Bella Blvd.  They are all so much fun.  The new collections are shipping now, so you should be able to pick some up at your local scrapbook store or online very soon!!

Thanks for popping in today!

The Studio's August Mood Board Challenge

Good morning, everyone!!  There is a really fun challenge up at The Studio this morning.  It's a mood board challenge.  Have a look at the board:

I am in love with all the gold and ombre elements included and that's what I jumped on to create my layout.  I thought the pretty papers from the Clique into Color kit from Clique Kits combined with some pretty gold embellishments from the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop would be perfect for this project.

For my touches of gold I used gold doilies, gold star sequins and the 6mm gold rush sequins from SMS.

I hope you can play along with us at The Studio this month - both the challenges for this month have been really fun!

Pinterest Inspired || Pretty Little Studio

Good morning, everyone!  Today on the Pretty Little Studio blog we have a fun Pinterest image to inspire you in your creative endeavors :o)

Here is the inspiration piece:

Here is how I translated it to paper:
I loved the vibrant colors, so that's what I really latched on to from the image.  I also loved the diagonal lines, which prompted me to fill in two of my corners with patterned paper.

So, I sort of love the way this turned out.  I feel like most of my layouts have been looking the same recently - very simple, very linear.  And that's okay, because I'm having fun with what I'm doing, but I do also really do like to find ways to mix it up a bit.

I've also been having a lot of fun with mists recently.  I'm not huge into mixed media - it's a bit outside of my comfort zone.  BUT - I love the misting-on-packaging technique that's become popular recently - and it's so easy that even a mixed media challenged girl like myself can do it!

I hope you can join in on the fun over at the PLS blog!!

Pool Fun || The Cut Shoppe + SpiegelMom Scraps

Hey, everyone!  I have a new layout up at The Cut Shoppe today!

I got really excited about the "Make a Splash" cut file when I saw it and instantly thought it would be really cool to blow up the stacked words to make a background.  It really was perfect or highlighting photos of my niece at the pool.  I cut out the stacked words and the sun and water-colored them before removing them from my cutting mat.

I kept the rest of the layout pretty simple because I really think the cut file looks so good on its own!  But, I had to add in some of my favorite sequins from the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop - I am really digging this pretty blue color right now!

Here is the cut file that I used on this layout:

Clique into Color Crop

Good morning, everyone!  There is something excited going on at Clique Kits this weekend - it's an online crop!  We have a special kit that we are using for it featuring lots of the Bella Blvd Just Add Color collection, but you don't have to use the kit to participate.  There are TONS of challenges and prizes.

I kicked off the crop with a sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch:

Here is my example for it:

I love this Bella collection so much because you can use any color combo -  I don't have a lot of purple in my stash, so it was fun purple-ing up my layout!!

I hope you can join us!  The crop goes all weekend and you have until the 21st of August to upload challenge entries.  Find full details on the Facebook events page here.

Project Life with Pretty Little Studio

Hey everyone!  I wanted to stop in today to share with you a recent PL spread that I completed for Pretty Little Studio that was up on the blog yesterday.  I am desperately trying to catch up on PL since I am many, many weeks behind.  When I am in catch-up mode, I usually don’t take a lot of time to embellish.  However, this week featured a ton of fun photos from when our family came to visit us at the beach.  I knew I needed to take my time on this spread and I knew that the Treasure Island collection combined with bits and pieces from other collections would be perfect for it:

For the week title card, I used the cork alphas from the Treasure Island collection paired with matching labels, tiny ABC stickers in pacific and a Splish Splash word flag:

I created a filler card from one of the Let’s Go Stencil Journaling Cards backed with the Buccaneer paper.  I added in a cute lime-colored arrow sticker to finish off the card:

Finally, one of my favorite elements from this spread was the picture of my nieces flying a kite.  This particular piece from the Define Travel Tickets (Let’s Go collection) was perfect:

Thanks for stopping in!

The Studio || August Sketch Challenge (+ Lots of SpiegelMom Scraps Products!)

Hello, August!  You snuck up on me quickly!!  I know I say this EVERY month, but the year is seriously flying by!!

With a new Sunday comes a new challenge at The Studio - and this week it's a sketch challenge!  Here's the sketch:

Here's my layout:

I loved this sketch and that it allowed me to use lots of layers.

We are right in the middle of moving and I packed up my WHOLE scrap room a few weeks ago, except for a tiny box of stuff and a big 'ol bag of SpiegelMom Scraps products.  The kit I made for myself was chock full of older stuff from my stash that I have been hoarding forever.  I have to force myself to use it.  The kit that I made for myself also worked perfectly with some of my SMS stash.

Here are the items I used from the SMS store:
-Normandy Lace Doily (I think I use these on almost every project!)

I really do love that Jody carries all my favorite embellishments in her store!  Plus, she's awesome to "work" for - she sent me a whole pack of white cardstock just cause she knows how much I love it!  Isn't that the sweetest?!

I also really hope that you can play along with us at The Studio!  Maybe I'm biased, but their sketch challenges are always so much fun and really get my creativity going!

Have a happy Sunday!
