August 2014 Stitch Fix

Hey, everyone!  It's been a while since I posted a Stitch Fix review.  I got a fix in July, but it was really disappointing and unimpressive, so I didn't post a review or even take any photos.  However, this month's fix was quite a different story!

1.  Fill out a style profile.

2.  Schedule a fix!  This can be as frequent (or infrequent) as you would like.

3.  Pay $20 – this is the “styling fee.”  However, if you keep anything from your box, it is automatically applied to your purchase.

4.  Get the clothes and try them on in the comfort of your own home with stuff you already have.

5.  You have 3 days to mail everything you don’t want back to Stitch Fix in a pre-paid shipping envelope.  If you keep all 5 items from your fix, you get a 25% discount.

 

Here's a look at what I received:

 

Arynn Tie-Back Chevron Print Tank and Naara Cuffed Denim Short 

This shirt is too cute!  It is shear but it came with a white cami to wear underneath it.  I love the colors and the fact that it will transition well from Summer to Fall.  The shorts are super, super comfy.  Before I tried them on I thought I would hate them, but I was pleasantly surprised!

 

Cayla V-Neck Hi-Lo Maxi Dress

This was another one that I was not impressed with out of the box, but when I put it on, I pretty much fell in love.  It's comfy, yet elegant.  It can be dressed up or down.  The only downside - its needs to be ironed...which is very apparent in this photo!  :o)

 

Ventura Chevron Keyhole Detail Tank

I had this shirt pinned on my Style board on Pinterest.  So glad I did.  I love, love, LOVE it.  The pattern, the colors, the fit, the price ($38) were all perfect!

 

Galen Polka Dot Tie Waist Dress

I also had this dress pinned, but when I put it on, I thought it looked a little baggy.  However, the bagginess was nothing that a cardigan can't fix.  Plus, I'm a sucker for some polka dots.

 

I wouldn't have ordinarily purchased the polka dot dress, but since I had to decided to keep the other 4 items, that dress also found a place in my closet since I got a 25% discount...

 

Final thoughts: After a really crappy July box, this box was just what I needed to restore my faith in Stitch Fix.  And it was my first keep-all-5 box...yay!  Needless to say, I was very happy with everything I received this month.

Stitch Fix Review #6: June

Hey, everyone!!

 

I received my June fix in the mail yesterday...yay!  This month's box sort of made me sad.  I loved pretty much everything in the box, but a lot of the stuff just didn't look quite right on me...

Casey Lace & Stripe Sheer Tank

So...I was pretty unsure about this one when I got my box.  I am sooo not a lace girl.  However, I did end up really liking this top.  In the end, though, I decided that I probably wouldn't wear this very much and I still wasn't totally comfortable with the lace.  Status: Returned.

 

Jaclynn 3/4 Sleeve Button-Up Cardigan

I love the color of this cardigan!  So much so that I already own a cardigan in this exact same color!  Also, this sweater was waaay too tiny.  And while my husband is always petitioning me to get tighter clothes, this one was a no-go for me. Status: Returned.

 

Missy Polka Dot Tab-Sleeve Blouse

Y'all, I am so sad about this one.  I have an almost identical shirt pinned on my style Pinterest board.  Unfortunately, this looked terrible on me.  It was all big and boxy in my body and waaaaay too tight in my back.  So tight that I had a hard time getting it off by myself and sort of begin to have a panic attack because I thought I was going to be stuck in it until my neighbor came home and was able to come over and help me get it off.  (We've all been there, right?!)  Status: Returned.

 

Caroline Tie Dye Print Maxi Skirt

It's official.  I hate maxi skirts...on me.  They look cute on other people (I'm jealous!) and are so comfy, but I hate the way they look on me.  With sadness in my heart, I updated my style profile to say "No more maxi skirts, please."  I do love this fun, bright pattern, though.  Status: Returned.

 

Amanda Tie Dye Chevron Print Dress

A winner!  I love this dress.  It is sooooooo comfortable and perfect for the summer.  I'm in love.  :o) 

 

I also tried it with a pop of color and added a fun skinny belt.  Which look do you think looks better: with or without belt?

 

Final thoughts:  Even though I only kept one item, I love the item I did keep.  I also feel a lot of these clothes were my style, but just didn't work out quite right.  I'm not disappointed.  I've been spending too much money any ways recently, so I'm actually sort of happy I didn't get a box where everything was absolutely fabulous!

Stitch Fix #5: The one with all the stripes

Good morning!

 

I received my most recent fix in the mail on Thursday...always VERY exciting!  :-)

As I said in the title, I got a ton of stripes (4 out of 5 items were stripey).  I love stripes, so this was not a big deal for me.

 

Here is a closer look at what I received in this month's box:

 

I'll start with my favorite item first: Tina Striped Open Cardigan 

Love, love, LOVE this!  The color is pretty and the weight of the sweater is perfect for this time of year - a great night-time sweater.  It's different than any cardigan I currently own.  Status: KEPT

 

Crosby Striped Maxi Skirt

I just don't think I look that great in maxi skirts.  Well, at least not the ones made of jersey material.  Maybe if this skirt were slightly more flowy, I would have gone for it.  Status: RETURNED

 

Brentwood Tiered Striped Long Sleeve Sheath Dress 

This dress was not for me...AT ALL.  I have seen it on some other blogs and the ladies who got it looked fabulous.  But on me?  I think it looks a bit trashy...Status:  DEFINITELY RETURNED

 

Alessandra Striped & Colorblocked Blouse

This was the second item that I kept.  I was so excited when I received it because I have seen it on a bunch of blogs and I adored it.  Plus, I have a huge crush on the color yellow.  I'm so glad that it fit me!  Status: KEPT

 

Selfridge Cowl Neck Long Sleeve Top

Typically, I love cowl necks.  And I certainly loved the color of this one.  In the end, though, I just decided that this top wasn't for me.  I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just didn't think this worked incredibly well.  Maybe if the cowl neck was a bit higher and the faux cami wasn't there...Status: RETURNED

 

Final thoughts:  Even though I only kept two items from this box, I really like the two items I kept.  I think I will wear both of them quite a bit.

Stitch Fix #4 || Best Yet!

My latest stitch fix box arrived yesterday.  I was so excited from the first moment I opened my box.  My stylist, Zoila, had obviously checked out my Pinterest board, because she sent me a few things that I had pinned!  (I have since removed the pins to avoid any confusion for future fixes.)

Rowena Chevron Print V-Neck Blouse

This is such a fun top to me. I love that it's longer in the back.  My eloquent husband first said that it looked like the rainbow threw up, but then he came around and ended up liking it.  Which is good.  Because I think I would have kept it anyway!  :-) Status: KEPT

 

Sally Mixed Striped Dress

So, I adore the pattern on this dress.  The color = fantastic.  I also loved that the dress had pockets.  In the end, I just decided that it wasn't really for me.  I thought it was a bit boxy and slightly unflattering. Plus, super structured is not really my style.  Status: RETURNED

 

Linden Graphic Print Sleeveless Dress

This dress... It's not my usual style...but I fell in love with it.  First of all, I loved the pattern.  I loved that it was somewhat unique.  And Eric really liked this dress.  So, it found a home in my closet!  Status: KEPT

 

Daphne Scallop Colorblock Dress

I had pinned this dress.  I thought it was unique and had great colors.  I loved it.  Unfortunately, it just didn't look that great on me.  It was too poofy in the chest area and begrudgingly, I had to send it back.  If this dress had worked, I would have kept my entire box for the 25% discount.  Status: SADLY RETURNED

 

Kye Box Print Swing Skirt

In my opinion, I saved the best for last.  I first saw this skirt on The Box Queen and pinned it immediately.  I knew I needed this colorful, flowy thing in my wardrobe ASAP.  And I am so, so glad that it worked.  This is the second skirt that I've kept from Stitch Fix.  I've doubled the amount of skirts in my closet! Status: KEPT!!

 

Final thoughts:  This was my favorite fix to date.  I also learned how important it is to pin the pieces that you love...you may actually end up getting them in your box!  And moral of the story: If you send me something bright and colorful in a fun pattern, I'm probably going to keep it.  Ha!

Pierson Lace Detailed Short Sleeve Shirt

Um….unfortunately, no.  The cut of the top was pretty cute and it was a short sleeve sweater, which I kind of liked.  I also really liked the mint color.  But the lace?  Not so much.  Definitely, definitely not my style.

Spectra Abstract Print Fit & Flare Dress

I really loved the pattern of this dress, although I did find the colors a bit hard to match.  Also, I love fit and flare dresses.  They look good on almost anyone.  However, I didn’t think this dress looked quite right on me and at $78, I didn’t want to buy something that I wasn’t in love with.
 

Iris Striped A Line Skirt

Yay!  I had pinned this from the Stitch Fix blog and I am so glad I did.  I love it.  I am a stripes kinda girl, so I think this is pretty cute.  I need to find a better shirt to wear with it, but I am totally sold on this piece!
 

Camillia Floral Print Sleeveless Blouse

When I saw this in the box, I thought it was awful.  When I put it on, I sort of ended up liking it.  In the end, I just thought the fit was a little weird and the pattern not at all my style.
 

Ritz Mixed Pattern Front Pocket Knit Shirt

Love the polka dot pattern.  Love the striped pattern.  Do not love them mixed together.  Plus, I looked super pregnant in this shirt when I turned to the side…which is not the look I am going for.
 

Final thoughts: So, another not-so-exciting box this time around.  But I am glad that my stylist tried to send more patterns and colors and I ended up with a skirt I love.  I’ve scheduled my next fix for next month and didn’t request anything, so we’ll see what happens!

Stitch Fix Review #2 (Maybe I can find a pose besides just hands-on-hips?!)

Hey, y’all! My second Stitch Fix box came a few days ago.  As promised, I stalked the postman until it was delivered!  Ha!

So, this time around I requested bright colors and fun patterns.  Here is the first look at my box:

No bright colors or fun patterns!  My receipt said “grey, grey, dark green, black, brown.”  Haha!  Oh well.  I was still willing to give it a try.

Here’s a closer look at everything I received (and as the title suggests, I probably need to find a pose besides just hands-on-hips!): 

Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse

The color on this was quite pretty, but the neckline really bugged me.  I don’t know if you can tell from the pictures but the neckline goes up pretty high on my neck on the sides.  I felt like it was a bit restrictive and I felt like it would look odd if I wore my hair up with this neckline (is that weird?!?!).  I don’t like being limited in that way and I actually wear my hair up about 85% of the time. 

Denna Colored Skinny Jean + Mission ¾ Sleeve V-Neck Blouse

First, the jeans: I saw these and I thought I would hate them.  But ohmygosh, they are so COMFORTABLE and I love the way they look with flats.  The only downside?  They are outside the price range I would normally pay for a pair of jeans.
 

The blouse:  Unfortunately, I didn’t think this was anything too special.  If the shirt had been in a fun, bright color, I might have been more sold on it.  Plus, I think the sleeves look a bit funny on me…what do you think?
 

Jerrard Heathered Open Front Cardigan

This was another thing I thought I would hate.  It also ended up being really comfortable and it’s so soft.  And I definitely don’t hate it.  But I’m not sure I love it, either?  My stylist suggested that I try it with a white t-shirt and the skinny jeans. 
 

Minée Half Floral Rhinestone Necklace

I love it.  It’s adorable.  But it’s totally NOT me.  I want to keep it because it’s sparkly and it’s pretty, but if I’m honest with myself, I know that I will never, ever wear it.  Sad face.
 

Final thoughts:  This box included a bunch of basic pieces that I feel like I could have gotten at most places.  Staple pieces are important to any wardrobe, but that’s not really what I am looking for from Stitch Fix.  The clothes are a bit more expensive than what I normally pay, so I’m looking for fun, unique pieces.  In the end, I only kept the skinny jeans.  Since they were the only thing I kept from this fix, I decided that it was okay to splurge a little…plus I didn’t want to lose my $20 styling fee!  I left a bunch of feedback on this fix, so I’m hoping to get something a little different next time.  It was still fun, though!
