Paper Issues' Free File Friday

Woot woot!  Happy Friday everyone!  Kat here today to share my Free File Friday project for Paper Issues with you.  I hope you are all aware of the awesome free cut files that PI has in their store, but just in case you're not, you can get them all here!

For my project today I used the Stitching Ampersand file.  This is a fun file because not only does it cut out the stitching template, but you also have the option to cut out "filler" ampersands.

I combined this file with Bella Blvd's new Let's Go on an Adventure collection to scrap a photo of my little family.  I stitched the ampersand with some pink embroidery floss that complimented the floral patterned paper nicely.

Here is the final project:

Free Cut Files || Paper Issues

Hi everyone!!  Popping in today to share with you a recent layout that I made using some of the awesome FREE cut files from Paper Issues.  I decided I wanted to scrap these photos of Piper getting her craft on, so I broke out the Simple Stories collection, Crafty Girl, and combined it with two of the free cut files: the Create A Life You Love cut file and the Paint Outline Alpha.
I used a woodgrain paper to cut out the files and then backed them with papers from Crafty Girl.  I played around with backing my title, too, but I actually really liked the way it looked as is.

Here is the final project:

There are still a few pieces of Crafty Girl left in the store, so make sure you snatch it up...and use code KAT20 to save 20% on your store order!

I Need Vitamin Sea

Hey, hey, hey!  Thank goodness it's almost weekend time!!

I wanted to pop in and share a recent layout that I made.  It was made 100% for fun.  I loved this cut file from the Silhouette store and I just recently got the Hello Summer from Simple Stories, so I combined the two to scrap about Piper's first time playing at the beach:

Have I mentioned how much I love this cut file?!

Spooky Scary Skeleton || Pretty Little Studio

Good morning, everyone!  Are you getting ready for Halloween?  I have never really cared about Halloween one way or another, but now that my daughter is here, I'm super excited about it even though she is still so young.  It also helps that the new Goosebumps collection from Pretty Little Studio is really cute and fun!  :)

I decided to use this collection for my most recent PLS assignment to create a layout about Piper in her skeleton jammies.  My husband did a little dance with her to the "Spooky, Scary Skeleton" song that was pretty much the cutest thing ever.
I created a big title with a cut file from The Cut Shoppe and filled it in with fun papers from the collection.  Then I added some minimal embellishments and splatters to finish off the page.  It came together very quickly and easily.
Thanks so much for stopping in!

You are Beautiful || Pretty Little Studio

Hello everyone!  I'm excited to pop in and share another layout that I made with the Tales & Dreams collection for Pretty Little Studio.  There are so many great colors in this collection that it's easy to mix and match to create color combos to fit your needs.

For this layout, I chose a pretty flower cut file from Just Nick Studio and backed it with patterned papers from the collection that coordinate well with a photo of my beautiful niece.
Since the backed cut file provided a lot of color and interest, I kept the rest of the layout fairly simple and just added in a few die cut flowers and leaves around the page to complete the look.
Have you played with this pretty new collection yet?

Designer Challenge with Jillibean Soup

Hello!!  I am popping in to share my layout for this month's Designer Challenge for Jillibean Soup.  This month we were asked to highlight a quote on our layout.  I used one of the awesome Jillibean cut files from the Silhouette Store and then built my design to side of the quote using the Bowl of Dreams collection.  I really like how it turned out!

Thanks for popping in - happy weekend!

Pretty Little Studio || Shine

Good morning, everyone!  I wanted to pop in and share a layout that I have on the Pretty Little Studio blog this morning.  We were asked to create a layout inspired by this photo:

As soon as I saw the photo, I knew I needed to break out last year's Wonderland collection and go to town!

I began by cutting out a bunch of snowflakes from the Silhouette store.  Once they were cut out, I backed the negatives of the cut with patterned papers from the collection.

I layered on my photo, sprinkled some sequins around and added a title from my stash.  The layout was complete in under 30 minutes!  Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO || PLS Layout

Good morning, everyone!  Happy Friday!  I am up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today to share a layout I created with today's feature product: number tags!  Every time I imagined using number tags on a project, I could only think of using them in a December Daily or a planner, so I made it my mission to use them on a scrapbook layout.  Granted, I still used them to express a date, but I think that's okay... ;-)
xoxo_detail1
To create my layout I used a cut file from Just Nick Studio that had been lightly misted and decided to focus on the bright and happy color scheme of pink, orange and yellow.  A lot of the PLS collections have papers that feature these colors together, so it was easy for me to mix and match to create a happy layout highlighting my beautiful niece:

I love the cheeriness of the whole thing.  It reminds me of Summer...I'm not a fan of cold weather so I'm desperately holding on to anything that keeps me feeling warm. LOL.

Oakley Avenue by Pretty Little Studio

Good morning, everyone!  I am popping in to share a layout that I made with the newly released Oakley Avenue collection for Pretty Little Studio!  We just had our product swap with Just Nick Studio last week, but I had a bunch of Just Nick Cut Files that I still wanted to play with, including the fun leaves cut files that I used on today's layout.

I decided to scrap a photo of my dog, Moose, wearing his new Fall collar.  Since the Oakley Avenue collection is Fall-themed, I thought it would be perfect to combine with the leaves cut files:

I also sprinkled in some sequins, some fussy cut leaves from the Leaf Love paper and some Fall Words stickers.  Kind of gives the effect of falling leaves, right?!  ;o)

Pretty Little Studio - Just Nick Studio Product Swap

Good morning, everyone!  This week, Pretty Little Studio is teaming up with Just Nick Studio for a fun product swap!  My layout was up on the PLS blog yesterday and I had SO MUCH FUN making it!

Just Nick has so many great cut files to choose from that it was a really hard decision to decide which ones to play with.  So...I picked out a few and will be sharing layouts with PLS products and the fun cut files all month long.  :)  But for my first project, I decided to go with the Doodle Daisy background.  I cut it out, backed it with different shades of Sundress Vellum from the Summer Vibes collection, and then cut it in half to frame my photo:
20167
I really love how it turned out.  I popped up the file with pop dots to add a bit more dimension.  This cut file is SO FUN and I think it pairs so nicely with the bright, vibrant colors from the Summer Vibes collection...a winning combination in my book!!

Scraplift Saturday || 3.5.16

Good morning, everyone!!  I am popping in on this happy Saturday (seriously, YAY SATURDAY!) to share another installment of Scraplift Saturdays.  I always choose one of my own layouts to lift for this feature.  It's a fun little challenge and it's always nice to be inspired by yourself :o)

For today's feature I chose to lift this layout from last August:

I really liked the big circle and the fact that there were multiple photos spread across the page.

This is my new layout for Pretty Little Studio:

I LOVE that big 'ol sun cut file from The Cut Shoppe and knew that it would be a great element to anchor my photos.  For my PLS assignment, I was also asked to focus on stickers.  I decided to have some fun with the tiny ABC stickers.  I'm a pretty big fan of how this layout turned out.

Thanks for popping in!

Flashback Friday || Bella Blvd

Hey, everyone!  Sorry I've been M.I.A. recently!  I did want to pop in and share a layout that I have on the Bella Blvd blog this morning.  We were asked to create a layout using an older Bella collection, so I went with the Family Forever collection.  Here's what I whipped up:

The title is made from a cut file from The Cut Shoppe.

Hope you enjoy!

Snow Much Fun || Pretty Little Studio

Hello, hello!  I wanted to pop in and share a layout that I had on the Pretty Little Studio blog earlier this week.  I finally got to play with the new Wonderland collection and I just adore it.  The pretty color palette is right up my aisle.  And even though, I created a Winter-y layout for my first project, I truly believe this line is incredibly versatile.

Anywho, as I mentioned, for this layout I stuck to the Winter theme and decided to scrap these photos of my nieces playing in the snow.  I began by cutting a giant snowflake out of my background paper using my Silhouette.  I backed the cut out with the pretty-looking water-colored paper and then built my layout on top of that:

Hope you enjoy!  Thanks for stopping in!

Bella Blvd + Kerri Bradford Studio Team Up

Hi, everyone!  Last week some members of the Bella Blvd team had the wonderful opportunity to team up with the team of Kerri Bradford Studio to bring a week's worth of awesome inspiration.  I was lucky enough to be one of those team members.  Kerri gave us a ton of great cut files to work with and I ended up creating some of my favorite Bella layouts to date:

I’ve been really trying to play catch up with my wedding album recently (it’s only been 3 ½ years since we got married!) and when I saw the “restroom people fancy” cut file in Kerri’s About Town collection, I knew I just had to use it.  I played off our wedding colors – pink and orange – and pulled in a lot of different collections and embellishments to create my layout.  I also used the “laughter” cut file from Kerri’s Giving Thanks collection to add a bit more interest and fun!

Since November 11th was Veteran’s Day in the U.S., I figured it was the perfect time to scrap this picture of my Grandmother.  She was a Marine during WWII and worked on planes back in the States so they were in good shape for the men overseas.  I’m so proud of her.  She was a remarkable woman who passed away just under a year ago at 100 years old.  She’s definitely my hero!  For this page I used Kerri’s USA collection and the postage stamp frame from the Life Additions 2 collection.  I cut out the frame in all different sizes and filled them in with patterned paper and topped with a variety of embellishments.

Thanks for popping in!

Fun with Vellum || Pretty Little Studio

Hello everyone!  I wanted to pop in and share a layout that I had up on the Pretty Little Studio blog yesterday.  I was challenged to use vellum on a project and this is what I came up with:

I know I just posted a project with the "Plus Infinity" cut file from The Cut Shoppe, but I loved it so much that I just had to use it again.  I cut the file down so it was centered in my page and then I backed it with a fun sheet of vellum from the Treasure Island collection.

Also, I totally love those gold doilies - I think this is my second project in a month where I scattered them all over the page - such a fun effect - I think!

Thanks for popping by!!

So Fabulous || The Cut Shoppe

Hey everyone!  I am up on The Cut Shoppe blog this morning with my last layout as a design team member.

For my last layout for The Cut Shoppe I decided to combine an old favorite with a newer file.  I ADORE the Plus Infinity background cut file and I've wanted to use it for awhile, but didn't have any good ideas.  And then we moved recently and I was forced to go through all my scrapbook stash and found some pretty glitter paper buried at the bottom of a paper pile.  I was inspired to create this bling-ed out layout about my niece:

For my title I used the This & That cut file - I think it pairs perfectly with the bling-ed out background!

And here's a close up with the light reflecting off the page so you can see just how glittery it is.  I LOVE it because it highlights my niece's personality so well - she sparkles and shines so brightly!

Here are the files I used in this layout:

I also just want to take this time to quickly thank Ashley for having me on the team for the last few months.  I had such a great time and it was such a fun opportunity!  I can't wait to see what new files she creates in the coming months!!

Fly Everyday || The Cut Shoppe

Good morning, everyone!  I wanted to stop in today to show you how I used one of my favorite new cut files from The Cut Shoppe.

When I saw the "Any Which Way" background, my mind instantly began thinking about ways I could use it, what directions to place my arrows in, how to fill in the arrows, etc.  It's just such a fun file with unlimited possibilities.  Ultimately, I decided to use the arrows going up and down.  I took the 8.5 x 11 file and only traced 5 rows of the arrows.  I eventually decided to place the arrows to one side instead of in the middle.  I really thought this was the perfect cut file to highlight the photo of my nieces flying a kite on the beach:

I went with a softer color palette than I'm used to, but I think it complements the photo and theme well.  It's hard to tell here, but I also sprayed the cut file with some Calico shine, so it looks really pretty in person.

The cut file I used on this layout:

Thanks so much for stopping in today!  Have a happy weekend!

The Cut Shoppe + CSI Team Up

So....I completely spaced and forgot to post this - The Cut Shoppe did a team up with CSI (Colors, Stories, Inspiration) this month. We took on the CSI challenge- and whoa, was it hard.  It was so much fun to do, but it really stretched my creativity!  Here was the CSI case file that I participated in:

And here is my take on it:

I dug deep into my stash to use those fun October Afternoon papers (hello, my name is Kat and I'm a hoarder).  The hardest part for me?  That sketch!  I had such a hard time figuring out how to make it work with my style.  I do sort of like the end result, though!

As for my cut files, I used the super fun "It's My Party" cut file to highlight the ADORABLE photos of my niece.  Seriously, she's cute, right?!?!

Thanks for popping in...happy Friday!!

He's A Star || The Cut Shoppe

Good morning, everyone!  Summer is in full swing right now over here, but I did want to pop in and share my first layout for The Cut Shoppe:

It's much messier than my usual style - lots of mists and messy stitching - I really like the end result, though. Plus, the bright color palette makes me even more excited for Summer!
