CardMaker Magazine + Prickley Pear Blog Hop

Good morning everyone! Welcome to the CardMaker Magazine + Prickley Pear Blog Hop!  I was so excited to get to play with some of the cute rubber stamps that Prickley Pear kindly sent us.

As soon as I saw the stamps, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  The cute cow stamp combined with the "An udder year older" sentiment was perfect for making my own gift wrap and tag for a friend's gift.

I used Versamark to stamp the image on to black paper and then embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I used black embossing powder on the tag to make the cow stand out against the green background.  I added minor embellishments to finish off the package.  I think the overall look is cute and funny :)
I mean seriously, how cute is that cow?!?!

Your next stop on the hop is the talented Sharon.  If this was your first stop, you can start the hop at the CardMaker Magazine blog.  Up for grabs today is an awesome $20 gift card from Prickley Pear!

Thanks so much for stopping by - enjoy your Friday and your weekend!

A Few Jillibean Shares...

Good morning, everyone!  Happy New Year's Eve!  I know everyone is saying it, but where has the year gone?!  It flew by crazy fast...

For my last post of the year, I wanted to share a few projects that I had on the Jillibean Soup blog this past week.

My first project was a birthday present for my Mom.  It actually coordinated with the card I shared here last month. I've missed making pretty packages, so I'm going to focus more on that in this coming year, since it makes me so happy:

My second project is this layout made with the Chit Chat Chowder line.  I LOVE how colorful and happy it is.  It was perfect for scrapping these adorable photos of my nephew:

That's it from me, folks!  Have a safe New Year's Eve!!

Merry Christmas Eve

Good morning, everyone!  Merry Christmas Eve!!  I hope you and your family have a safe and happy holiday season!

I wanted to pop in and quickly share a few Christmas projects.

The first is some gift-wrapping that I did using some Bella Blvd products.  The Bella team did a Secret Santa gift exchange this year, so these were the gifts that I gave.  I had too much fun wrapping these:

The second is a layout I have up on the Pretty Little Studio blog this morning.  I love the fun colors of the Merry & Bright collection and I love this adorable photo of Moose Dog in front of our tree.  A perfect combination!

Thanks again for stopping by - Merry Christmas!!

Quick & Easy Gift Wrap || SpiegelMom Scraps

God morning, everyone!  Are you tired of me yet?  I've been posting A LOT because I've had a ton of projects due recently...it will slow down...I was just booked very heavily for the beginning of the month...haha!

I wanted to share a quick & easy gift wrap tip with you today.  I wrapped my box in simple paper, created a super simple sentiment card with a plain project life card and some alphabet stamps and then garnished with a thread of sequins:

I used the Stargazer Sequin mix from SpiegelMom Scraps.  This mix is no longer available (sorry), but there are a TON of other mixes in the store here.

I also used my favorite washi to tape my sentiment tag onto the package.

In other exciting SMS news, the store is turning 5 and we are having a huge blog hop beginning Friday to celebrate.  There will be a TON of awesome sponsors.  Get all the details on the event Facebook page here.  Also, if you use code KAT15 in the store, you can save 15% off your entire purchase!!

Thanks for stopping by...have a happy Sunday!

Gift Wrap Goodness || Pink & Orange

When Eric and I got married 3 years ago, our wedding colors were pink and orange.  Every year I try to mimic the wedding colors by wrapping his anniversary gift in pink and orange.  He usually gives me pink and orange flowers, so it’s a mutual thing J

This year I turned to my SpiegelMom Scraps supplies to wrap my gift.  Here’s what I came up with:

I wrapped the gift in the pretty pink ribbon first and then made a cluster of embellishments, including a shipping tag, doily and some wood veneers.  I even painted the wooden people pink and orange in an effort to be a bit clever!

Supplies from the store include:

I love that not only are the products from the store great for paper crafting, but they also work perfectly for creating pretty packages!  Do you use your scrap supplies to wrap gifts?

Happy Mail Monday || Purple Package

Hey, everyone!  I have sent out another happy mail package.  This week I focused on the recipient's favorite color: purple.  I had SO MUCH fun putting this little package together - plus I really love paint chips, so any excuse to use them makes me happy.

I used a bunch of fun Curtsey Boutique goodies to put this package together - that pretty stuff never gets old!

I also decorated my mailing envelope a little bit.  But seriously, I need to work on the outer packaging a bit more!

If you're interested in being happy mail "pen pals", shoot me an email at kraftykat9@gmail.com !

Doodlebug Design Application

Hey, everyone!  Happy, happy Friday!  I love Fridays!  Reaching the end of the work week is one of the best feelings.

I'm popping in today to share my projects for my Doodlebug Design DT application.  I didn't make the team (sad face), but I did have a lot of fun creating the projects for my application.  Here's what I submitted:

A card:

A project life spread:

Some Christmas gift tags:

And this layout (which I previously shared here):

I adore Doodlebug's products - the fun, colorful collections and touch of glitter embellishments fit in perfectly with my style.  In fact, I just refilled my Doodlebug embellishment stash in preparation for this application, so you will see a lot of their products showing up on my work here within the next few weeks.

Thanks for stopping in!

Clique Kits December Challenge

Good morning, everyone!  Happy Saturday!  I'm excited to stop in and share the newest challenge that's up today on the Clique Kits blog.  The twist this month:  go mini.  Make something small, but fun!

Here is my take:

I couldn't resist making a gift tag with the December kit.  There was just too much fun, colorful stuff to work with in the kit, and that stamp from the Sweet Stamp Shop was the icing on the cake!

Entries don't have to be created using a CK kit, so it's really easy for anyone to play along! Up for grabs this month is a prize pack from Creative Retreats and Danielle Young Designs:

Hope you join us for the fun!!

Curtsey Boutique Favor Bags

Hey, everyone!

I am popping in to share some favor bags that I made for the Curtsey Boutique.  They were so quick and easy to make!

CarrieAnne's felt butterflies are already embellished beautifully so it was easy for me to just attach them to a doily with a sentiment tag and use them to top a brown paper bag...these bags only took minutes to make and I think they ended up looking pretty cute.

Gift Wrap Goodness: Layers

Good morning!  Today I am sharing my latest gift wrap project:

I tried a new technique on this one: embossing!  I've had the supplies to do it for a few months now, but hadn't really had the chance to sit down and do it.  I love the result!  First I embossed my plain black paper and then I added my tag and layers.  Once again, I am hoping that I will be able to reuse most of the tag at a later date.

Thank you for stopping by!  Tomorrow is Friday and what has felt like the world's longest work week will come to a close...yay!  :-)

Gift Wrap Goodness: Paper Pocket

Good morning!  I am stopping in to share my latest gift wrap project. This was inspired by a Martha Stewart tip that I pinned a while back.  If you follow the links, you will see step-by-step directions for how to fold a pocket into your gift wrap.  The links recommend using the pocket to store a card, but I decided to use it for so much more!

I gave this gift to a friend's daughter who was turning 12.  She is currently obsessed with mustaches, so I made a few out of cardstock and paper straws and included them in the pocket along with an envelope holding an iTunes gift card and some lollipops.

If you don't feel like following the links to get directions for making the pocket, I created a rough mini-tutorial for you:

Step 1: Choose the paper you want to wrap your box in.  Make sure that you cut a little bit extra so you have enough room to make your pocket.

Step 2: Fold the paper up.  The fold should be where you want the bottom of your pocket to fall on the package.

Step 3: Fold the paper back down.  This fold should be where you want the top of your paper pocket to fall on the package.

Step 4: Insert pretty things into the pocket!

Gift Wrap Goodness: Using Washi Tape

Good morning, everyone!

One of the creative things I have decided to do this year is to make my gift wrapping more interesting.  I have all these scrap supplies that I will never get through in a million years (and I still subscribe to monthly kits...it's an addiction, people!), so I figured I should spread them out a little and use them in as many ways as possible.

To begin my gift wrapping endeavor, I jazzed up one of the gifts for Eric's birthday:

I created little banners out of washi tape and embroidery floss and then covered a wooden letter in the same washi tape for the tag.  I am hoping to be able to reuse this tag on a layout in the future.

Supplies: Kraft Paper: Scotch; Embroidery Floss: Prism; Tag: American Crafts; Label: Simple Stories; Washi Tape: Freckled Fawn; Arrow: Studio Calico; Wooden Letter: Pink Paislee; Transparent Doily: Maya Road

Currently Craving: Fun Gift Wrap Ideas

Now that Thanksgiving is over, I can get in the Christmas spirit without feeling too guilty.  One of my favorite things about Christmas is buying presents for people..and then wrapping them.  My paper and embellishment obsession carries over into this holiday nicely :o)

Giftwrap Goodness: Creative Gift Wrap

Hey, everyone!

I have something a little different to share with you this evening: a recent gift that I gave for a birthday.  I decided to be all creative-like in my gift-wrapping and do something a little more fun.  I have a whole Pinterest board full of gift wrap ideas, so I figured I should put it to good use :o)  Here is what I came up with:

What do ya think?  I can guarantee the gift wrapping is probably just a tad more exciting than the gift (a book).  It felt so good to be creative in this way...is it terrible that I am ready for Christmas now because I want to come up with more creative packaging ideas?!?!
