PL 2014 || Week 12 with the Curtsey Boutique!

Hi, everyone!  I am popping in to share my first project for The Curtsey Boutique.  I am so, so excited to be on this team.  At first glance, a lot of the shabby chic items in the shop do not really look like they fit my style very well, but I assure you that they do!  Check it out:
Week 12 included the first day of Spring.  I thought a few of the Curtsey Boutique products did an excellent job capturing Spring: the colorful doilies, the sparkly butterflies and the awesome stick pins (a personal fave of mine!)

And here are some close-ups of some Curtsey Boutique products in action:

The Studio || Epic Fail

There is a new challenge up at The Studio this morning.  This time we were supposed to scrap about epic fails.

At first glance my "epic fail" doesn't really look that epic. I chose to scrap before and after photos of when I got my hair done.  I paid almost $100 to get my hair cut and colored...and my before and after photos were almost identical.  The real epic fail is not the hair cut or the wasted money, but is actually my inability to take big chances.  I'm working on it, though.  I may not be getting pink hair anytime soon...but maybe I'll look into becoming a redhead!  :-)

I hope you'll be able to join us at The Studio and play along!

PL 2014 || Week 15

Good morning!!  I have a new week of Project Life to share with you.  This time it's week 15.
I've sort of showcased a random assortment of photos here.  My favorite is the picture of the beach.  I used an overlay on that photo...and if you look real close you may be able to see it!  It says "My Day" on it.  This is the second week in a row that I've used an overlay and I'm loving them! It's such a simple way to "spruce up" a photo!

The Studio's Number Challenge

Good morning, everyone!  I'm a tad bit late in posting my take on The Studio's newest challenge.  This challenge was to use numbers in your project in some way.  Here is my take:

I decided to focus on my niece's rainbow themed 9th birthday.  I am so excited that I was able to use that large wood veneer number.  I've been looking for the perfect opportunity to use one.

Head on over to The Studio to see the other designers' takes on the challenge.  I guarantee you'll be inspired!!

Stitch Fix #4 || Best Yet!

My latest stitch fix box arrived yesterday.  I was so excited from the first moment I opened my box.  My stylist, Zoila, had obviously checked out my Pinterest board, because she sent me a few things that I had pinned!  (I have since removed the pins to avoid any confusion for future fixes.)

For an in depth run-down of Stitch Fix, click on my first “review” here.  Here are the basics:

1.  Fill out a style profile.
2.  Schedule a fix!  This can be as frequent (or infrequent) as you would like.
3.  Pay $20 – this is the “styling fee.”  However, if you keep anything from your box, it is automatically applied to your purchase.
4.  Get the clothes and try them on in the comfort of your own home with stuff you already have.
5.  You have 3 days to mail everything you don’t want back to Stitch Fix in a pre-paid shipping envelope.  If you keep all 5 items from your fix, you get a 25% discount.

Here was the first look at my box:
I am LOVING all the colors and patterns that I see!!!

And here's a look at each item I received:

Rowena Chevron Print V-Neck Blouse
This is such a fun top to me. I love that it's longer in the back.  My eloquent husband first said that it looked like the rainbow threw up, but then he came around and ended up liking it.  Which is good.  Because I think I would have kept it anyway!  :-) Status: KEPT

Sally Mixed Striped Dress
So, I adore the pattern on this dress.  The color = fantastic.  I also loved that the dress had pockets.  In the end, I just decided that it wasn't really for me.  I thought it was a bit boxy and slightly unflattering. Plus, super structured is not really my style.  Status: RETURNED

Linden Graphic Print Sleeveless Dress
This dress... It's not my usual style...but I fell in love with it.  First of all, I loved the pattern.  I loved that it was somewhat unique.  And Eric really liked this dress.  So, it found a home in my closet!  Status: KEPT

Daphne Scallop Colorblock Dress
I had pinned this dress.  I thought it was unique and had great colors.  I loved it.  Unfortunately, it just didn't look that great on me.  It was too poofy in the chest area and begrudgingly, I had to send it back.  If this dress had worked, I would have kept my entire box for the 25% discount.  Status: SADLY RETURNED

Kye Box Print Swing Skirt
In my opinion, I saved the best for last.  I first saw this skirt on The Box Queen and pinned it immediately.  I knew I needed this colorful, flowy thing in my wardrobe ASAP.  And I am so, so glad that it worked.  This is the second skirt that I've kept from Stitch Fix.  I've doubled the amount of skirts in my closet! Status: KEPT!!

Final thoughts:  This was my favorite fix to date.  I also learned how important it is to pin the pieces that you love...you may actually end up getting them in your box!  And moral of the story: If you send me something bright and colorful in a fun pattern, I'm probably going to keep it.  Ha!

PL 2014 || Week 14

Hi, everyone!  It's the start of another work week.  The weekends just go by a bit too fast, don't they?

I am stopping in today to share my most recent week of Project Life.  Most of the pictures from this week were taken in the same day.  On Friday, I was able to get out of work a bit early, so I gave myself a beach day.  Too much fun...and something that I need to do more often.  I took a lot of pictures while I was there.

For this spread, all of my journaling cards came from Becky Higgins' Midnight Edition.  I really love a lot of the hand-written elements that core kit contains.  I also loved the Studio Calico overlay, which I put in over a picture of Marines running on the beach.  And of course, I had to get some water colors in there...again.  And yes, if you're wondering...that is a picture of my niece in the fridge.  She managed to get in there all by herself.  She just learned to walk and now she's giving her mama hell by getting into anything and everything!

I hope you have a nice week...thanks so much for stopping by!

Scraplift Saturdays || 5 April 14

Hey, y'all!  For today's Scraplift Saturdays installment I picked a layout from one of my favorite challenges with The Studio.  It was a sketch challenge from 2012 and it inspired me to create one of my favorite layouts that year:

When I tackled the updated version of the layout, I was really tempted to lift it almost exactly.  I love the original so much and I've always been of the philosophy "why mess with a good thing?"  However, I did update it a bit and came up with this:

Another wedding picture scrapped!  E & I got married almost 2 years ago, but I have barely made a dent in getting our wedding photos scrapped.  And I got 2 pages in to my Project-Life-style wedding album before failing miserably.  Hopefully, I will revisit it again soon.  I even bought the Project Life Sunshine Edition Core Kit to get me inspired to work on the album some more...that was 6 months ago!

What project do you need to catch up on/get re-motivated about?

PL 2014 || Week 13

Happy, happy April!  I know I say it every month - but seriously, where is the time going?!?!  The year is just flying by!

I wanted to pop in and share week 13 of my Project Life with you.  This spread covers the half marathon that a friend and I ran on Saturday (sometimes I make stupid decisions!).  It was a fun experience even though it rained the ENTIRE TIME we were running.  Oh well - we will have a good story to tell for years to come.

I played around with my watercolors some more to create my week title card.  I am in love with watercolors and am still kicking myself for not experimenting with them earlier...

Thanks for stopping by...hope Spring weather has finally come your way!
