Put a Bow on It || Paper Issues

Good morning, everyone!  Just popping in today to share my layout for Paper Issues' "Put a Bow on It" challenge.

I have had this large photo of my daughter laying in my scrap nook since August but I haven't been able to do anything with it.  I knew I wanted to scrap it, but I love the photo so much and I just didn't feel I could do it justice.  Well, a few weeks ago, we lost power at our house for an entire day and there was nothing for me to do except scrap.  I didn't have many photos printed out so this one was just sitting there taunting me.  :)  I decided to go for it, but I knew I wanted to keep the design fairly simple.

I grabbed the Bella Blvd Splash Zone collection and went to town adding minimal embellishments to my photo, including a perfectly coordinating little felt bow clip, also from Bella.  Here's the final layout:

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you're encouraged to play along with us this month.  Also, don't forget that all the design team members have a code that will save you 20% off your store purchase.  My code is KAT20 :)

Paper Issues December Sketch #1

Good morning everyone!  Just popping in today to share the first Paper Issues sketch of December with you...and my take on it.

I absolutely adore this sketch.  It was created by Stacie and it's simply perfect:

Because I think it's so perfect, I really didn't mess with it much.  I used the free Wonky Pie Chart cut file from the store and a lot of fun products from Studio Tekturek.  I think the papers really complimented my daughter's outfit well.  With all the fun patterns from the paper, I used very minimal embellishments and some acetate stitches from Pretty Little Studio to finish off the look:

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you love the sketch as much as I do...and make sure you share your interpretation of the sketch in our Facebook group!  Also, don't forget that all the design team members have a code that will save you 20% off your store purchase.  My code is KAT20 :)

Woodn't You Know It || Paper Issues

Good morning, friends!  I'm excited to pop in and share my take on the "Woodn't You Know It" challenge at Paper Issues.

I used a mix of supplies on this layout.  My wooden elements included patterned paper and wood veneers from Elle's Studio.  I also used the fun new Aria alphas from Bella Blvd and some vellum leaves and acetate stitches from Pretty Little Studio.

Here's the whole project:

I really like the fun feel the wooden pieces added to the project.  I hope you can play along with us.  And don't forget that each design team member has a code you can use in the store to save 20% off your whole purchase.  My code is KAT20.

Scraplift Sunday

Hi, everyone! Happy Scraplift Sunday!  Best day of the week, if you ask me, considering this week's scraplift challenge is now posted at Paper Issues.

Today we are lifting a really fun layout from Cassie Wiscarson:

I loved all the fun tags and the sort of semi-circle she created with them.  I decided to do something similar, but slightly off-center.

I used the newest collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio to create my layout.  I thought the collection went really well the pictures I took of my daughter when we were on a hike recently.  Here's my take:

Attachment Issues || Paper Issues

Good morning everyone!  I'm just stopping in to share my layout for this month's "Attachment Issues" challenge over at Paper Issues.  This challenge asks you to focus on how you attach different elements to your projects.  For this layout I used glue, staples and faux stitches.

I broke out the fun Fall-themed goodies from Elle's Studio and went to work.  These products have a cozy feel to me, so I thought they would pair nicely with some ripped elements on the page.  I made rips at the top and bottom of my page, backed them with patterned paper and added some stapled details:

Here's what my whole layout looks like:

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  You still have a few days left to play along!  And don't forget that each design team member has a code that will save you 20% off in the store.  My code is KAT20.

Spooky Cute || Paper Issues

Good morning, everyone!  Just stopping in today to share my take on the "Cos-tomb Par-ade" challenge over at Paper Issues.  It's so funny - I was never into Halloween until I had my daughter...and now it is one of my favorite holidays.  She loves it and I can't help but get excited when she it.  Plus there are so many fun activities and so much stuff to do with her leading up to the day. So, with all that said, I was totally jazzed to do this challenge.

Last year was my daughter's first year trick-or-treating so I really wanted to get that documented.  I've also been trying to journal more on my layouts, so I decided to journal on a random assortment of Pretty Little Studio labels and positioned them going up one side of my layout.

I also grabbed a random assortment of Halloween papers and embellishments from my stash to finish off the look.  Here's what my completed layout looks like:

I'm so glad I was able to get this special memory documented and I'm hoping you can play along with us!

Also, don't forget that each design team member has a code that you can use to save 20% off your store purchase.  My code is KAT20 :)

Paper Issues Sketch

Hey everyone!  I am up on the Paper Issues blog today to share the newest sketch with you and show you what I created with it.  This fun sketch was designed by Kelly and she almost tricked me into making a Halloween layout.  However, I still have too many photos from Summer that I've got to get down on a page.  Here's the sketch:

I've been wanting to dig into the fun Altenew collection, Enjoy the Ride, ever since it found its way to my doorstep.  And I think this layout was the perfect chance to use it.  I do love me some purples!

I love this sketch because it's simple, but provides a good jumping off point for a strong design.  I followed it pretty closely, but added in some of the flower ephemera from the collection, some labels and faux stitching from Pretty Little Studio and a fun purple alpha accent courtesy of Bella Blvd.  I alos built my layout on top of a Vicki Boutin mixed media page.

I hope you're able to play along with us!  And don't forget: each design team member has a code you can use in the store to save 20% off your entire order.  My code is KAT20.  :)

Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues

Good morning, all!  It's Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues - the best day of the week!  I just wanted to hop on to share the layout we're lifting this week and to show you how it inspired me.

The layout we are lifting this week is this duper fun layout by Laurie.  Those strips across the bottom are too much fun and I love that she got multiple photos on her page:

I loved the design and decided to put my own spin on it by making scallops instead of paper strips.  I love me some scallops and it's been too long since I've had them be the focus of one of my projects, and I though this lift would be the perfect opportunity to use them.  I broke out my August kit and got to work.

Here's what my lift looks like...obviously, a little different, but hopefully you can still see how was inspired by Laurie's awesome layout.

I hope you're able to play along with us...and as always, don't forget that each design team member has a code you can use in the store to save 20% off your total purchase.  My code is KAT20.

9.03.2020

Good morning everyone!  Just popping here today to share this month's newest Paper Issues "This or That" challenge with you.  I always love this challenge because I feel like I can ALWAYS make the selections fit my style.  Here is this month's board:

For my layout today, I decided to use a bunch of my Elle's Studio stash.  I'm definitely on an Elle's kick and I'm really glad there is so much of it in the store!

Originally I thought I was going to use the 3 squares option since my photos were square-shaped, but I only had 2 pictures I wanted to use and I didn't really like the way my layout was working out, so I re-vamped and came up with this:

Ultimately, I ended up using 3 circles (not counting my modeling paste background work), twine, a rainbow, word strips, the word "love", a heart, and metal clips.  It was a lot of fun to put together.

I really hope you can play along with us this month...and don't forget that each design team member has a code you can use in the store to save 20% off your entire purchase.  Mine is KAT20.  :)

Pinned it! || Paper Issues

Good morning, everyone!  Popping in today to share my take on this month's "Pin It" challenge over at Paper Issues

When COVID-19 lockdown started, I found a really delicious cookie recipe on social media...and the proceeded to make cookies almost every week for a month...which contributed to some weight gain on my part.  Lol.  But the cookies were certainly fun while they lasted :)
For this layout, I scrapped some of my cookie photos and used some Elle's Studio products to highlight the photos.  I also used a random assortment of embellishments and alphas from my stash to complete the look.

Here is the whole layout:

Paper Issues - August Sketch #1

Good morning everyone!  Popping in here to share the first sketch challenge of the month with you over at Paper Issues...this sketch is a FUN one:

I definitely took this sketch literally because I totally loved all the fish...and thought it was a fun way to document my little fishy, who pretty much lives in the water these days.

I used a fun cut file and sprayed some mist on top.  Once it was dry, I backed it with a variety of papers from Doodlebug, Simple Stories and Bella Blvd to create a rainbow of fishies that complemented my daughter's bathing suit.  Here's what I ended up with:

It was a really simple layout to make, but I feel like it still packs a punch.

I really hope you can play along with us this month!  And don't forget - every design team member has a code you can use in the store to save 20% off your order.  My code is KAT20.  :)

Monochromatic Fanatic || Paper Issues

Good morning!!  I'm popping in here today to share my layout for this month's Monochromatic Fanatic challenge over at Paper Issues.  Here is this month's board:
I'm going to be honest; I'm not a huge fan of the color red.  I've had people tell me that's very unpatriotic of me.  Lol.  It's just not my color.  However, it's easy to overcome that when I have some great scrapbooking supplies to work with.  And for this layout, I was definitely working with some good stuff: all the Elle's Studio stuff that's been added to the store recently.  Seriously.  Pretty much all of it.  I used a little bit of almost everything, including paper from all the paper packs and lots of stickers spread across multiple different sheets.  I'm such an Elle's fan girl :)
I started off by creating a grid of different red papers and mounting it on a transparent acetate sheet from Bella Blvd.  Then I mounted my photo and smattered around a ton of different sticker, labels, die cuts, etc.  Here's the final product:
I really hope you're able to play along with us this month...and don't forget, each design team member has a code that you can use to save 20% off your entire store order!  My code is KAT20. Happy scrapping! :)

Scraplift Sunday || 7.5.2020

Good morning everyone!  Happy Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues!  It's one of my favorite days of the week :)

Today with are lifting this seriously fun layout from MandaJane:

I mean, how fun is that sunburst effect?  I'm totally in love!

I decided to use the new Chloe collection from Bella Blvd, mixed with random bits from their older collections.  I'm a big fan of how they use the same core colors for all their collections so it's always really easy to mix and match.

I distressed my paper strips to give them a fun texture.  I used to have a special tool from Tim Holtz to do this, but I misplaced it.  However, a pair of my daughter's safety scissors worked just as well.  Lol.  I also fussy cut some flowers from one of the papers to add some finishing touches.  Here's my lift:

I really hope you can play along with us!  This was really such a fun layout to make.  And don't forget that each design team member has a code you can use in the store to get a discount off your order.  Mine is KAT20.

Best Buds || Paper Issues

Good morning everyone! Stopping in here today to share my take on this month's Best Buds challenge over at Paper Issues.  I decided to go with a flower theme for this one...mainly because I had the cutest pictures of my daughter blowing dandelions and I really needed to get them on a page!

I began by mixing some older Pebbles paper with some die cut flowers from Pink Paislee.  I kept the design really simple, because I wanted the photos to shine.

I've never been a huge floral person, so even though the design of this layout is simple, it actually took me a long time to figure out how to arrange my die cuts...ha!  One I had my die cuts glued down, I sprinkled around a few gold enamel dots from my stash and added my title.  Here's the whole layout:

I hope you decide to play along with us...and don' forget - each designer has a code that will save you 20% off your store purchase.  Mine is KAT20.  :)

Fashionista

Good morning everyone!  Just popping in today to share a new project with you for the "That Was Random" challenge over at Paper Issues.

For this challenge, I decided to scrap about the pink combat boots my daughter picked out all on her own.  They are definitely NOT something that I would have selected, but she loves them.  She's quite the little fashionista and has very strong opinions about her clothing.  I recently had a little trip to the outlets and I decided to save the tags from my new clothing to add to this layout about my little fashionista.

In addition to the clothing tags, I used the brand new Let's Wander collection from Vicki Boutin, including the awesome mixed media pad.  This layout came together SO FAST with those fun projects.

Here is my layout:

What random things will you be using for this challenge?

Thanks for stopping by....and don't forget code KAT20 will save you 20% off your PI store purchase!  :)
