Fall Walks || The Studio

Hey, everyone!  There was a new challenge up at The Studio yesterday: scrap a fall-themed layout.  I love this challenge because it's s open-ended!  I decided to scrap some Instax photos of Moose before one of his walks.  He loves his walks, especially in the cooler weather.

To "Fall it up" a bit, I used a fun fall-themed collection from Doodlebug Design - the colors scream cozy fall to me!

I also sprinkled in my favorite gold rush sequins and a gold doily from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop.  Those two items are pretty much my scrap staples!

Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper, Paperclips: Doodlebug Design; Alphas: Doodlebug Design, Bella Blvd; Sequins, Doily: SpiegelMom Scraps; Mist: Heidi Swapp; Glitter Leaf: Making Memories

Playing Catch Up...

Y'all!  Life is moving so fast and I can't keep up recently.  I'm waaaaaay behind on posting projects here.  Anyone else feeling slightly overwhelmed and overworked?  Please tell me I'm not the only one!  ;-)

I have two projects to share with you today.  The first is a layout I made for Clique Kits using their November kit, Tapestry.  The kit has a lot of fun products from We R Memory Keepers and then some great add-ons from Pink Paislee.  It's definitely a yummy Autumn-inspired kit!

I was inspired by a fun image that I found on Pinterest and used it to create my layout.  Here is the image:

Here is the layout:

My second layout was made for The Studio Challenges.  This week's challenge is a tic-tac-toe challenge.  I chose the line that contained gold, sequins and mint.  Here is my layout:

Of course, I used my gold rush sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps!!  (I acutally used them on the first layout, too!)

Make sure you head over to The Studio to see the full board.

Thanks for popping in!  Hopefully, life will slow down soon and I can do a better job of staying updated!

Layout 1: Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper, Chipboard Frames: Pink Paislee; Alphas: American Crafts; Die Cuts: We R Memory Keepers; Flair: Clique Kits; Sequins: SpiegelMom Scraps

Layout 2: Cardstock: Bazzill; Alphas: American Crafts; Patterned Paper: Pretty Little Studio, Bella Blvd, Studio Calico; Vellum Hearts: Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Wood Veneer: Evalicious; Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye

Sketch Challenge || The Studio

Good morning, everyone!  There is a new sketch challenge up at The Studio today!  I had a fairly easy time working with the sketch because it was based off of one of my previous layouts for The Studio.  The design is one of my go-to designs when I'm feeling stuck, so this layout came together really quickly.  Here is the sketch:

Here is my take on it:

I managed to squeeze in a lot of goodies from the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop on this layout:
-Bermuda Triangle Sequin Mix (I used the pretty little blue ones from this mix)

If you see anything in the shop that you like, use code KAT15 to get 15% off your entire purchase- and I hope you can play along with The Studio this month!!

Happy Sunday!

Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper, Border, Label Sticker, Chipboard Sticker, Alphas: Pink Paislee; "Sun, Fun & Laughter" Die Cut: Chic Tags; Paper Bag: Webster's Pages; Tags, Doily, Sequins: SpiegelMom Scraps Shop; Ribbon: May Arts

A Few Shares

Good morning, everyone!  I am falling behind on updating my blog a bit, so I'm going to share two recent layouts today.

The first is a layout I created for Pretty Little Studio.  I wanted to focus on mixing collections for this layout, so I mixed a lot of the You & Me, Treasure Island and Let's Go collections.

Look at that cutie - his name is Knox.  He's my new nephew, born on September 2nd.  He's pretty adorable.

The second layout was made for today's challenge at The Studio.  We were asked to scraplift another design team member.  I chose to lift this layout by Jinny:

I love her fun design.  Here is my take:

I like Jinny's better.  The original is almost always best :)  I think I should have stuck with my signature white background for this one, but I wanted to branch out a bit.  I did use a lot of fun SpiegelMom Scraps products in this layout, which is fitting, since the cuties in the picture belong to Jody :)  The pink felt hearts, wood veneer stars and the Silver Sunrise sequin mix all came from her shop.

Thanks for popping in today!

Layout 1: Cardstock: Recollections; Staples: Tim Holtz; Everything Else: Pretty Little Studio

Layout 2: Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye, Cocoa Daisy, Chickaniddy Crafts, American Crafts; Journaling Card: Becky Higgins; Twine: My Mind's Eye; Glitter Stickers: Freckled Fawn; Words, Transparent Hearts: Heidi Swapp; Wood Veneers: Studio Calico; Sequins, Felt Hearts: SpiegelMom Scraps

The Studio's August Mood Board Challenge

Good morning, everyone!!  There is a really fun challenge up at The Studio this morning.  It's a mood board challenge.  Have a look at the board:

I am in love with all the gold and ombre elements included and that's what I jumped on to create my layout.  I thought the pretty papers from the Clique into Color kit from Clique Kits combined with some pretty gold embellishments from the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop would be perfect for this project.

For my touches of gold I used gold doilies, gold star sequins and the 6mm gold rush sequins from SMS.

I hope you can play along with us at The Studio this month - both the challenges for this month have been really fun!

Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Paper: Echo Park; Stickers: Bella Blvd; Sequins, Doilies: SpiegelMom Scraps; Mist: Heidi Swapp, Studio Calico

The Studio || August Sketch Challenge (+ Lots of SpiegelMom Scraps Products!)

Hello, August!  You snuck up on me quickly!!  I know I say this EVERY month, but the year is seriously flying by!!

With a new Sunday comes a new challenge at The Studio - and this week it's a sketch challenge!  Here's the sketch:

Here's my layout:

I loved this sketch and that it allowed me to use lots of layers.

We are right in the middle of moving and I packed up my WHOLE scrap room a few weeks ago, except for a tiny box of stuff and a big 'ol bag of SpiegelMom Scraps products.  The kit I made for myself was chock full of older stuff from my stash that I have been hoarding forever.  I have to force myself to use it.  The kit that I made for myself also worked perfectly with some of my SMS stash.

Here are the items I used from the SMS store:
-Normandy Lace Doily (I think I use these on almost every project!)

I really do love that Jody carries all my favorite embellishments in her store!  Plus, she's awesome to "work" for - she sent me a whole pack of white cardstock just cause she knows how much I love it!  Isn't that the sweetest?!

I also really hope that you can play along with us at The Studio!  Maybe I'm biased, but their sketch challenges are always so much fun and really get my creativity going!

Have a happy Sunday!

Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Paper: Chic Tags, American Crafts; Diecut Card: Fancy Pants; Alphas, Ampersand Paper Clip: Studio Calico; Doily, Shipping Tag, Sequins: SpiegelMom Scraps; Die Cut Frame: Elle's Studio; Paper Banner Tag: Evalicious; "Favorite" Sticker: Heidi Swapp; Wood Veneers: Chic Tags; Staples; Tim Holtz

The Studio || Handmade

Hey, everyone!  There is a new challenge up at The Studio today and it's all about including something handmade on your layout.  My handmade item is really easy to spot - I cut out my title alphas from some extra felt I had laying around.  It definitely looks like a little kid did it.  That wasn't the look I was going for, but in the end it works since the layout is about child's play.

I also managed to squeeze in a lot of goodies from the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop.  I used the red stars from the Patriotic Star Sequin mix, the Royal Blue sequins, and I used some paint pens to color in my Printshop Wood Veneer stars and the super fun Tiny wood veneer stars.  I went with a primary color scheme for this layout and I think it worked pretty well with the subject matter.

I hope you can join us for this new challenge at The Studio!

Ms. Pacman 2015 Challenge

***If you are looking for the SpiegelMom Scraps blog hop, please click here.***

Good morning, everyone!  I wanted to share with you a SUPER FUN challenge that I just took part in - I think the concept is absolutely genius!  I ran across the challenge on Jill Sprott's blog and it was just what I needed.  My creativity has been lacking a bit recently and I've really been wanting to stash bust.

So, here is the challenge: create a kit from your stash featuring all these things and make at least 3 projects with them...

1. Eight pieces of patterned paper scraps and four specialty paper/"other" paper scraps -- no complete sheets allowed.
2.  No more than one yard of trim, with no individual piece measuring more than 11" in length.
3. One sticker sheet, with a catch: at least one sticker must be missing from the sheet.
4. A pre-2013 alphabet set (the old challenge asked for a pre-2010 set, but I figure, three years have passed, so we can compensate for the time change).  If you don't have a set this old, aim for your oldest.
5. One opened package/container of scrappy product.
6.  One unopened package/container of scrappy product.
7. One roll of tape.
8.  One item or package of product from a company that no longer makes scrappy products (the old challenge required a JBS product, which could still apply to this updated version).
9.  Six journaling and/or Project Life cards (if you don't have individual cards, you can cut them from a journaling-card-style patterned sheet or use a printable, if you wish).
10. Unlimited cardstock, adhesive, and "technique-type product" (e.g. stamps, stamping ink, paint, mist, stencils, embossing powder, etc.).
11. A wild card item. Include anything you've been wanting to use (regardless of whether it is old or new, opened or unopened).  The time is now.
12.  A nearby item. Grab something from your desk or craft area that is within arm's reach. This will be fairly easy to do if you are a mess-maker like me. If you are super-organized and have no items within reach, then head for the nearest drawer or bin, close your eyes, and reach blindly. The item that you retrieve will be the final addition to your kit.

Here is the kit I created:
I wanted my kit to be Summer-y and full of fun, vibrant colors!

And a run-down on each item:

1. Eight pieces of patterned paper scraps and four specialty paper/"other" paper scraps -- From left to right: I Lowe Scrap, Cocoa Daisy, Echo Park, Studio Calico, Elle's Studio, Teresa Collins; Specialty Paper: Studio Calico vellum, American Crafts Gold Dot vellum, Hambly Transparency, We R Memory Keepers Transparency
2. No more than one yard of trim -- don't know the brand for some of these, but the piece of twine is from We R Memory Keepers and the blue polka dot ribbon is Doodlebug Designs
3. One sticker sheet --  Heidi Swapp phrase stickers (la-la-love them!)
4. A pre-2013 alphabet set -- The Girl's Paperie ledger chipboard alphas
5. One opened package/container of scrappy product -- Studio Calico Printshop vellum die cuts
6.  One unopened package/container of scrappy product --  Simple Stories SNAP photo frames
7. One roll of tape -- Love My Tapes Turquoise Triangles Washi
8. One item or package of product from a company that no longer makes scrappy products -- Jenni Bowlin Studio Bingo Cards
9. Six journaling and/or Project Life cards -- From left to right: My Mind's Eye, MAMBI, Two Peas in a Bucket, Simple Stories, Studio Calico, Becky Higgins
10. Unlimited cardstock, adhesive, and "technique-type product"
11. A wild card item -- Heidi Swapp wood veneers - I've been wanting to use them soooo badly :)
12. A nearby item -- Bella Blvd Star Buttons - these have been sitting on my desk forever just begging to be used!

And here are my 3 projects:

This layout was created for The Studio Challenges - we were asked to use stars and stripes.  The yellow diagonal stripes on the B-side of the I Lowe Scrap paper were perfect:

This layout was created for The Cut Shoppe.  The fun, Summer-y kit colors made me want to use fun Summer cut files - "gelatoed" in orange!

And finally, I decided to use the kit in my endeavors to catch up on Project Life.  Do not be fooled by the week number!  I am still 14 weeks behind, but am just picking and choosing which weeks I want to work on based on my mood!

I still have a ton of my kit left over, so I'm going to keep using it until it's gone...and then I'm going to do it all over again!  I'll modify the paper rule a bit so I can use full size sheets of those papers that I've been hoarding.  And maybe I'll finally make a dent in my stash - even if it's noticeable only to me!

Pretty in Pink With The Studio and SpiegelMom Scraps

Hey, everyone!  There is a new sketch challenge posted at The Studio today - I did something on my layout that I almost never do - I used a colored cardstock background.  And this wasn't some weak attempt like I normally do when I use kraft cardstock.  This time I used pink!  Here is the sketch:

Here is my take on it:

I decided to place my photo in the center of the page instead of in the upper right.  I'm really into using the center of the page right now.

I also used a ton of goodies from the SpiegelMom Scraps store on this:

-Fairytale Sequin Mix (My fave mix EVER!)

As always, use code KAT10 at check out and receive 10% off your entire SMS purchase!!

I hope you can stop by The Studio and play along with us this month!!

The Studio || White on White

Hey, everyone!!!  Happy Memorial Day weekend for those of you in the U.S.  I hope you are getting some family time in on this long weekend.

There is a new challenge up at The Studio this morning - it's fun, but it's also difficult.  The challenge: white on white!  Anna was nice enough to say that you can add in an extra color if you want.  However, I really went for it and used only white on my layout:

I also used a ton of fun stuff from the SpiegelMom Scraps store:
-Studio Calico Printshop Stars (they are heat embossed with white powder)
-Medium Shipping Tags (I covered the brown circle with a white sticker)

As a side note, the famous gold doilies are back in stock, so you grab them while you can - code KAT10 will get you 10% off on your purchase!!

I hope you can play along with us at The Studio!!

The Studio || Color Combo Challenge

Good morning, everyone!  Happy Mother's Day to all those Moms out there!!

There is a new challenge up at The Studio this morning - and it's a fun color combo challenge: use pink, gold and black on your project!  I was so happy about this.  E just bought the Pink Paislee Bella Rouge collection for me as an NSD present (yes, seriously, he's awesome), so I was excited to play with it:

I was also inspired by the current Sketchy Saturday at Paper Issues.  I've never played along with them before, but may have to start :)  I loved filling in all the little circles with random embellies - this layout is not really in keeping with my normal style, but it was so much fun to make that I think it may be something I do again soon!

I also used some gold doilies and the Fairy Tale sequin mix from SpiegelMom Scraps.  The gold doilies are not in stock anymore, but Jody does have some awesome white ones that I love to use!

Thanks for popping in - I hope you can play along with us at The Studio this month!!

Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: Bella Rouge; Alphas: Queen & Co (Rhinestone Pink); Studio Calico (Cork); Chipboard "Beautiful", Phrase Stickers: Heidi Swapp; Puffy Hearts, Chipboard Stars, Chipboard Circles: Studio Calico; Punches: Martha Stewart, EK Success; Sequins, Doily: SpiegelMom Scraps; Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye

The Studio || Inspired by a Song

Good morning, everyone!!  There is a new challenge up at The Studio today. It's challenging you to be inspired by a song.

I chose the song "Happy" by Pharrell.  These pictures of E & I aren't perfect - the lighting is awful and the quality is sub-par (I blame the iPhone, but it's probably an operator error!), but I do love them.  They are silly and goofy and show how happy we are.

My finished layout is a little odd - not my normal style, but I kind of like it.  And I like the fact that I used up a bit of m alpha stash - but let's be honest, I didn't actually make a noticeable dent since I have more alphas than I can ever use in a lifetime!

I hope you can play along with us at The Studio!!

The Studio || Sketch Challenge (Using SpiegelMom Scraps Products)

Good morning, everyone!!  There is a new challenge posted at The Studio this morning - and it's a sketch challenge...yaaaaaaaaay!  (I obviously love those!).

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

A few cool things about this layout - I used a patterned paper background - that happens, like....NEVER!  It's a big step if I use something other than white cardstock.  I know it's silly, but I'm so proud of myself...haha.

The other cool thing about this layout is that you can get most of the embellies on this layout from the SpiegelMom Scraps store.  Here are the links to the products I used:

If you see anything that you want to buy from the store, used code KAT10 and you'll save 10%!

I hope you can play along with us at The Studio!

The Studio || Pinterest Challenge

Good morning, everyone!  Sorry I've been MIA for a bit.  After my work trip, E & I went to Florida for a mini vacay...but I'm back now and frantically trying to catch up on all my scrappy projects!!

This morning there is a new challenge at The Studio.  It's all about using this image as our inspiration:

The thing I really love about this photo is the bunch of flowers.  It made me want to use one of my favorite floral papers...a fun print from Bella Blvd.  Here's my take:

I hope you are able to swing by The Studio and play along with us this month!!

The Studio || Old Stash Challenge

Good morning, everyone!  There is a new challenge up at The Studio today and it's a fun one - if you've been scrapping for awhile, you probably have a giant stash.  I'm definitely a paper hoarder and I have papers from years ago.  The challenge today - use up some of that old stash!

I used one of my favorite collections from one of my favorite old companies - the "Count Me In" collection from Sassafras.  I was so sad when they went out of business.
I did think the cute number papers were perfect for a layout about putt-putt with big niece...

So, go ahead!  Dig into your stash, use up some of those old supplies (it makes room for new ones!) and play along with us at The Studio!!

The Studio || Use all 8 challenge

Good morning, everyone!  Happy March!  I know what you're thinking...3 posts in 3 days?  Who is this lady?  I assure you it's me; I just have a bit of catching up to do!

There is a new challenge up at The Studio this morning...and I LOVE it!  We were given a list of 8 items to use and were asked to use as many as possible on our project.  I managed to squeeze all of them into my layout.  Here is the list:

*sequins
*mist
*brads
*stamping
*chipboard
*thread
*vellum
*yellow

Here is my layout:

Here is the breakdown of how I used all my supplies:

I love this photo of my niece and I.  It is from our trip to Universal Studios earlier this year.  We got her interested in Harry Potter before we went so she could fully enjoy all that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has to offer...including butter beers!  E & I are pretty sure that butter beers are cream soda with a whipped butterscotch topping...delightful!!  She is definitely rocking a better butter beer mustache than I am!

You may not be able to tell from the photo, but the paper in the center is actually vellum and I put yellow sequins between the vellum and the cardstock for a fun shaker effect.

Since there were sequins on the list, I, of course, used some of my fun supplies from Spiegelmom Scraps:

I hope you can play along with us at The Studio!!  And I hope you decide to browse the awesomness of the Spiegelmom Scraps store...use code KAT10 for 10% off your purchase there!

The Studio || February Sketch Challenge

Happy February everyone...seriously, where does the time ago?

It's the first Sunday in February, which means there is a new challenge up at The Studio blog today. This one is a sketch challenge, which I always love.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:

I love sketches with a big circle in them, because I take that as the opportunity to incorporate a doily into my layout!  I'm also loving that I finally got to play with my February kit from Clique Kits.  I am so in love with the Serendipity line from Dear Lizzy/American Crafts that this month's kit is perfect for me!

I hope that you will be able to play along with The Studio this month!  And, as always, if you want to buy ANYTHING from the Clique Kits store, remember to use code KAT10 at check out for your 10% discount!

The Studio || Clean Off Your Desk Challenge

**If you're looking for The Sparkler DT blog hop, click here.**

Good morning, everyone!  There is a new challenge up at The Studio today -- and I LOVE it.  It's a little different than regular, but it really pushed me out of my comfort zone - in  a good way.  The challenge today: take whatever's been sitting on your desk for awhile and FINALLY use it in a project.

For me, it was my September Cocoa Daisy kit.  It was the last kit I got before cancelling my subscription and joining Clique Kits.  I loved Cocoa Daisy's kits, but in order to keep myself from accumulating waaaaay too much stuff, I have to be a one kit girl.  Their September kit was gorgeous - and totally not my style.  But I didn't want to get rid of it because I thought everything in it was so pretty.  So, when we were given this challenge, I  knew this kit was going to get used.  I was inspired by this beautiful layout by Tanya Privalova as my starting point.  Here is my final result:
I'm actually really happy with how it turned out, even if it is a bit outside my comfort zone.  I'm trying really hard to incorporate more patterned paper into my layouts this year, and I really like this technique for doing it.  You'll probably be seeing it again in the future :)

I hope you can play along with us at The Studio this month!  We always love to see what everyone creates!

The Studio || 2014 Reflection

Good morning, everyone!  Happy New Year!  I hope you and your family were able to ring in the new year in  a safe and fun way!

There is a new challenge up at The Studio this morning and it is all about reflecting on 2014.  I bounced around a bit on what I wanted to do, but finally decided on a Project Life wrap-up page.  I had this fun patterned paper from Bella Blvd that I really wanted to use:

I really love the concept of this spread and I think I'm going to start incorporating this in my Project Life albums from now on.  Love the look back at the year.

I know it looks a little weird since the months aren't quite in order, but the left side is actually the front of the pocket page and the right side is the back...

I hope you can play along with us!!

The Studio || Childhood Photos Challenge

Good morning, everyone!  Hope you had a nice weekend and that you are ready to jump back in to the work week (for the record, I am not).

There was a new challenge posted at The Studio yesterday.  The challenge: scrap a childhood photo. I don't have any childhood photos on hand, but I do have a whole box of photos from high school, so I used one of those.  I have a photo of myself and my 2 best friends in high school that was taken 10 years ago.  And I paired it with a picture of us that was take just 2 months ago.  I love the comparison!

I hope you can play along with us!
