Take a Hike!

There is a new challenge posted at Punky Scraps...and it's a recipe challenge!! Use any of the following in your layout/project:

1. Use canvas

2. Use chipboard

3. Use the posted picture to inspire you (it's a cool paint splattery creation...check it out!)

4. Use 3 staples

5. Use a black and white image

6. Make it monochromatic.

I tried to do all of them...but sorta failed on the monochromatic thing...oh well...it's only 2 colors! :)
Eric and I went hiking while we were in Catalina. It was a lot of fun, but I really do have one major complaint: How come I look like a sweaty, sticky mess and he looks even better than he usually does? It's not fair people! Boys get all the luck! ;o)

What's Your Vice?

We all have one. Mine just happens to be cupcakes. Ohmigoodness...I love me some cupcakes. I can't pass a cupcake store without going in. I don't know what it is about the delicious little things. I even have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to them. So, here is my layout for The Creative Type:
The prompt is obviously to scrap your vice. And you can tell by that picture that I'm not kidding about my cupcake obsession. I look like a 12 year old on a sugar high :o)

Meet Merv!

While E and I were in Catalina, we decided to a little photo shoot by the water one evening. While we taking photos, there was a seagull who seemed very interested in what we were doing. The seagull had a cute little personality, too. If you looked at him, he would cock his head to the side and stare back at you. When you turned your head to look at the camera, he did the same thing. Needless to say, we thought he was pretty adorable and we eventually decided to call him Merv. Luckily, we caught all of Merv's shenanigans on film...
I was happy to be able to use some more October Afternoon "Boarding Pass" on this one. I still can't get enough of that line!

Woohoo! Happy, happy weekend!!! I know it was a short week, but that's really when the work weeks feel the longest.

I have a quick layout to share for the current challenge at Punky Scraps. This challenge is a photo inspiration challenge. Head on over to Punky Scraps to see the photo and see what the other talented ladies created.
And, I have a quick little tip for you today. I posted this layout in my Scrapbook.com gallery and my Studio Calico gallery and a few people have commented about the "great stitching." It's not really stitching. I was super lazy so I just drew zig-zags around the edges of everything, using a fine tip Sharpie. :-)

Before I leave, I just also want to remind everyone that a new challenge is up at The Creative Type. This month you're asked to scrap about your vice. My Creative Type Prompt

Birthday layouts...

This past week my parents were in town visiting me. While they were here, we celebrated 2 birthdays: my Dad's, which was July 20th, and mine, which was last Wednesday. I decided to make a layout for each us that showed us blowing out our candles, and put the pages side-by-side in an album.

For the first layout, I dug into my scraps bin to play along with Amy Heller's summer scraps challenge:

For the layout about my Dad, I used the "Boogie Board" add-on kit from the August Studio Calico kit:

Boarding Pass...

As soon as I saw October Afternoon's new "Boarding Pass" collection, I knew I had to get my hands on it. I don't travel a whole, whole lot, but I certainly would like to! I instantly fell in love with the colors and patterns in this collection. I seriously bought almost every product from this line that I could! And I knew that buying this fun stuff would give me the kick in the butt that I needed to scrap more of my "older" photos (i.e., from the last few years).

Using up more of my scrap stash...

Happy Monday morning! I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

I was able to get a bit of scrapping done last night. In keeping with Amy Heller's summer challenge to use up that scrap stash, I dug deep into my own scrap bin. Here are the results:
I'm not a huge journaler, but I decided to try my hand at it on this one. I just copied the list of Random Facts about me that was posted on the Punky Scraps blog a few weeks ago.

I was excited to make this next layout because my Chicago photos have been laying around forever. I found this awesome layout and decided to do a scraplift of it. My layout didn't turn out nearly as cool looking as the inspiration piece, but at least the photos are getting scrapped, right?

Sassafras Challenges

Hi, everyone! This past week Sassafras posted 4 challenges on their blog in celebration of CHA. I participated in 2. The first one was a color challenge. And I scraplifted an awesome layout (by Melissa Mann) I found on the web and pinned here (God Bless, Pinterest!). I really loved the 3 boxes, so that is the element that I took from the layout. Here is what I created:
The second challenge I played along with asked us to use our alphabet stickers in a way other than a title, so I created this little layout that took me less than 10 minutes to create:

No supply list today. Everything in both layouts is Sassafras, except the tag in the top layout (and I'm not sure where that came from) and the white alphabet stickers in the second layout, which are from American Crafts.

Since it's Friday, that means there is a new challenge posted at Punky Scraps. Today's challenge is a recipe challenge. We had to use a picture without people (I'm assuming feet don't count...haha), 3 circles, the colors red & turquoise, stitching and staples. Here is my super, super messy layout:

I can't really decide if I like it or not. I don't think it's very pretty...which isn't necessarily a bad thing...I just don't know how I feel about it!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Yes, today is my WONDERFUL Dad's birthday. I am such a Daddy's girl and I truly believe that I have the best Dad in the world. He enjoys life so much, can make me laugh until I cry and gives really good advice when I need it. Also, he is a huge supporter of my scrappy addiction. He is always checking my wishlist on Scrapbook.com and sends me fun boxes full of stuff for every occasion.

July Sassafras Challenge

Hi, everyone! I hope your weekend went well. I got some "scrappy time" in and decided to play along with this month's Sassafras challenge. The challenge is to mix lines. Here is what I came up with: In this layout I used "Vintage Yummy" for the background, then "Sweetly Smitten," "Count Me In," and "Sassafras for Studio Calico" for the backing on the picture. I also used Sassafras brads all over the layout. I had a fun time making this layout and am pretty satisfied with the results. I was also inspired by this awesome layout by Felicitas Klink. Fun, fun, FUN!

I also dug through my scraps for this one. I have soooo many scraps laying around and Amy Heller has inspired me to use them up. She has a summer challenge going on right now, encouraging scrappers to use those items that have been laying around forever (like those Sassafras brads...I think they are at least a year and half old).

A VERY old layout to share...

...in the spirit of the day, I figured I'd share a layout that I made when I first started scrapping. The sentiment remains the same: my hero :o)
Eric has been in the Marine Corps a little over 5 years and has already deployed 3 times...which is nothing compared to some of the guys he's worked with, but it still seems like a lot of times to little 'ol me! As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm pretty patriotic and it's because of the men and women like Eric that I am that way. I appreciate the sacrifice so much. Their sacrifice makes me appreciate the beautiful country that I am blessed to live in. He hates it when I talk about how amazing he is, but I just want him to know that he is appreciated. :o)

First of all, I have to wish my USA friends a happy Fourth! I hope everyone enjoys their BBQ-filled, fun-filled day! This is one of my favorite holidays...I consider myself to be a fairly patriotic person, so today is right up my alley.
My long weekend has also allowed me to "scrap for fun." I've been having fun looking through some of my older photos recently and decided I should scrap a few:

Can you believe that it's July already?? Where is the time going?? I'm not sure I like it moving this fast...

Oh well... :) I do have a quick layout to share..it's not really my style and it's certainly not my favorite work. That Jenni Bowlin stamp is so awesome that I really need to find a good way to use it and make it shine on a page...so standby, you may be seeing a lot of butterflies in the near future.
