Best Buds || Paper Issues

Good morning everyone! Stopping in here today to share my take on this month's Best Buds challenge over at Paper Issues.  I decided to go with a flower theme for this one...mainly because I had the cutest pictures of my daughter blowing dandelions and I really needed to get them on a page!

I began by mixing some older Pebbles paper with some die cut flowers from Pink Paislee.  I kept the design really simple, because I wanted the photos to shine.

I've never been a huge floral person, so even though the design of this layout is simple, it actually took me a long time to figure out how to arrange my die cuts...ha!  One I had my die cuts glued down, I sprinkled around a few gold enamel dots from my stash and added my title.  Here's the whole layout:

I hope you decide to play along with us...and don' forget - each designer has a code that will save you 20% off your store purchase.  Mine is KAT20.  :)

Fashionista

Good morning everyone!  Just popping in today to share a new project with you for the "That Was Random" challenge over at Paper Issues.

For this challenge, I decided to scrap about the pink combat boots my daughter picked out all on her own.  They are definitely NOT something that I would have selected, but she loves them.  She's quite the little fashionista and has very strong opinions about her clothing.  I recently had a little trip to the outlets and I decided to save the tags from my new clothing to add to this layout about my little fashionista.

In addition to the clothing tags, I used the brand new Let's Wander collection from Vicki Boutin, including the awesome mixed media pad.  This layout came together SO FAST with those fun projects.

Here is my layout:

What random things will you be using for this challenge?

Thanks for stopping by....and don't forget code KAT20 will save you 20% off your PI store purchase!  :)

Paper Issues Sweet Talk

Good morning everyone!  I'm here this morning to share my take on this month's Sweet Talk challenge over at Paper Issues.  I used to be fairly apathetic about Valentine's Day, but since I've had my daughter, every holiday is so much more fun.  I love to buy her holiday-themed clothes and a do a few special holiday-specific activities with her.  For this layout, I decided to document photos from my girl's first Valentine's Day...she was so cute and small...sigh.

I waaaaaay shopped my stash for this one and had a great time doing it.  However, there is a bit of new stuff included in there; mainly Bella Blvd Squeeze the Day papers.  Here's what I whipped up:

I hope you can play along with us this month!  And don't forget, each design team member has a code that allows you to save 20% off your store order.  Mine is KAT20!

Scraplift Sunday || 2.2.20

Good morning everyone!  Happy Groundhog's Day...and most importantly, happy Scraplift Sunday over at Paper Issues!

Today we are lifting this fun layout by Jacqie:

I love the streamlined look of it and the blocks of different patterns.  I decided to break out the Blessed collection by Kaisercraft for this one.  I stuck pretty close to the original design...just stretched it out a bit to fill more of the page.  Here's what I whipped up:

I hope you'll play along with us!  And don't forget that each design team member has a code that you can use to save 20% off your store purchase.  My code is KAT20!  Happy creating!

Rainbow || Bella Blvd

Good morning, everyone!  Wanted to pop in here this morning to share my take on mixing collections for a cold weather layout that was on the Bella Blvd blog yesterday.
Katbenjamin_rainbow_detail1
We don't really get snow where we are (the desert) and we usually don't even get much rain.  Whenever it does rain, my little one gets really excited.  On this particular day, it was very cold outside and started raining.  Everyone was pretty miserable...except for her!  She was trying to catch raindrops on her tongue!  Her behavior was so joyous and fun.
Katbenjamin_rainbow_detail2
I decided to highlight that fact...and do something that also coordinated with her jacket. I combined the new Squeeze the Day collection with the older Illustrated Faith collection, You are Loved.  The two complement each other so well!  I created my own cut file, painted a rainbow on top and backed it with the black paper from the Bella Besties collection.  I then added minimal embellishments from the Squeeze the Day collection.  Here's what I whipped up:

Paper Issues Take 5

Good morning everyone!  Happy weekend!  I'm popping in here this morning to share my newest Paper Issues layout with you - this one is for the Take 5 challenge!  Here is this month's board:

I had so much fun with this one.  I'm really missing summer and the beach, so I decided to scrap one of our photos from our last Summer vacation.

To begin, I pulled out a striped paper from my stash to cut out my heart and stitched that down.  Then I added a bunch of Maggie Holmes' Sunny Days embellishments.  I added a smidge of paint on three sides of my layout and sprinkled around some mist, enamel dots and sequins to complete the look:

From the list I ended up using enamel dots, chipboard (the blue alphas), sequins, mist, paint and the color black.

I really hope you can play along with us this month...and as always, don't forget that each design team member has a code that you can use to save 20% off your store purchase - mine is KAT20.

Bella Blvd January Mood Board

Good morning everyone!  Just popping in this morning to share with you my most recent layout for Bella Blvd.  We're starting something new and every month, you'll be given a mood board to get your creative juices flowing...and this is mood board week!  I'm pretty excited because I definitely love a good mood board.  Here is this month's mood board:
76697415_3205410539531353_7987570247689306112_n
The colors reminded me a lot of the "Hand in Hand" patterned paper from the Illustrated Faith All People, All Nations collection, so I did manage to work a smidge of that into my layout.  I was also very inspired by the star garland, so I used that as my main jumping off point.
Katbenjamin_janmoodboard_5jan20_detail1
I began by using the IF paints to create a brushstroke base for my photos and then die cute a bunch of stars.  I strung the stars on some coordinating embroidery floss and glued it all down...then added my photos and a few random embellishments to complete the look.

Here's my whole layout:

Monochromatic Fanatic || Paper Issues

Good morning everyone!  Paper Issues has a brand new monthly challenge and I'm so excited about this one!  Every month we'll be given a color and mood board to make our monochromatic layout.  We're starting the year off with a rather difficult one, but trust me, it is oh-so-fun!!

Here is the board:

So, this month is all about white, but I used those little pops of grey and black to anchor my design.  I also plan on using this challenge as a stash-busting adventure each month...so I had a lot of fun digging through my stuff to find the white papers and embellishments I was going to use for this one.

In addition to my stash, I also used a beautiful Alexandra Renke paper, which is fairly new to the shop and the Time to Fly free cut file!  Here's my layout:

I really love that I stepped way outside my comfort zone for this one.  It's my first layout of the new year and I'm really pleased to be starting the year off by pushing myself a little bit!  I hope you can play along with us!

Also, don't forget that every DT girl has a code for 20% off the entire store.  My code is KAT20.  :)

My 2020 #52favorites Plan

Good morning everyone!  I'm excited for a new year and fresh projects, including a new #52favorites album!  For those unfamiliar with the project, #52favorites is a Paper Issues project and it encourages you to keep an album of weekly favorite memories.  I've tailored mine a little bit to be Piper-specific, and I do the #52favoritesofpiper :)

I know I don't share a lot of my #52favorites spreads over here, but it's definitely my favorite project of the year and I participate every week.  I do post all my spreads to my IG account here.  Here are a few of my spreads from last year:

This will be my third year doing the project and I feel like I've found a set-up that really works for me.  I'm sharing in case it inspires someone to participate this year.  I know everyone works differently and my set-up will not be for everyone, but it's such a fun project that I want to encourage people to participate :)

Here are my essentials:

-We R Memory Keepers Typewriter - this was a gift from my husband a few years ago and I LOVE it - definitely one of the best gifts he's ever gotten me :)
-We R Memory Keepers 4x4 albums - I really love this size.  It's easy to work with and I feel like I can make my pages as simple - or as fancy - as I want.  I used 2 4x4 albums for my 2019 project.
-Tim Holtz tiny attacher.  I love to staple things, y'all.
-Pretty Little Studio labels...you'll find these on almost every spread I do.  They are cut-aparts, so it's easy to load them into the typewriter, then cut them out afterwards
-Date stamp
-Sequins - my favorite shop is SpiegelMom Scraps

Other essentials not pictured include lots of tiny alpha stickers (I like the Florence Alphas by Bella Blvd and the super small puffy stickers from Pinkfresh Studio), phrase stickers, and my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool.  The fuse tool is nice for when I decide I want to make shaker pockets out of my pages.

And here's a look at my 2020 title page:

I hope  you're inspired to play along - it really is such a fun challenge!

Pinspire Me || Paper Issues

Good morning everyone!  I'm here today to share my layout for this month's Pinspire Me challenge over at Paper Issues.  I'm not going to lie, this one was a little bit hard for me.  All I see when I look at this board is red...and red is my least favorite color.  But, I persevered and found some cute Bella Blvd supplies to make it all better :)  Here is the board:

And here is what I made:

I pulled out the new Santa Squad collection and a bunch of coordinating red embellies (with a little pop of pink) to make this come together.  All red ain't so bad after all ;-)

I hope you can play along with us this month...and don't forget, all the DT girls have a code you can use in the store to save 20% off your purchase - mine is KAT20 :)

Countdown to Christmas || Bella Blvd

Good morning, everyone!  I'm here today to share a fun little project that I'm really excited about.  I'm sharing it over on the Bella Blvd blog today...This is my daughter's first year where she kind of understands what is happening with Christmas.  She knows who Santa is and she's so excited about trees and lights and we're trying to educate her all about the reason for the season.  I also really want her to be excited about the big day, so I decided we'd do a fun little countdown to Christmas once there were 12 days left.
P1010463
I found a cute little set of books at Target that had a fun variety of all different subject matter, from the 12 Days of Christmas, to baby Jesus, to Santa's reindeer.  I wrapped each of them and put a number tag on them so we can countdown to Christmas Day.
P1010458
P1010458
I broke out the Santa Squad collection to make all my tags and it coordinates so well with a bunch of other great Bella products.  I think I used a little bit of everything from my stash to create these and I had the best time!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Does your family do anything fun to count down the days until your favorite holiday?

November Take 5 || Paper Issues

Good morning everyone!  I'm here today to share my layout for this month's Take 5 challenge for Paper Issues.  Here's the list:

I think this is my favorite monthly challenge because it really allows you to do almost anything you want.  Most of the layouts I make usually meet the challenge board for the month and that's always a nice surprise.

For this one, I used up some of the My Mind's Eye Happy Days collection.  There's none of it left in the store, but there are some other fun My Mind's Eye products there.

And here's what I ended up creating:

I used a pre-made title, labels, a 3x4 card, arrows, ephemera, green and layers!

I hope you can play along with us...and don't forget you can save 20% off any PI store purchase if you use a DT member code.  My code is KAT20.

My Heart || Bella Blvd

Good morning everyone!  I'm here to share my layout for Thanksgiving week over at Bella Blvd.  I decided to make a layout that focuses on what I'm grateful for...and one of the things I'm most grateful for is my daughter - she's my heart!
60899723_1287205834766113_2623098301905371136_o
The Home Sweet Home collection was absolutely perfect for this layout, including the coordinating "My Heart" acrylic title.
60919120_1287205861432777_2941796536104779776_o
I love all the fun patterns in the collection, so I used as many of them as possible.  I cut up a bunch of triangles and arranged them into a vertical element that ran the height of my page.  I then sprinkled around some word salad stickers, enamel hearts, ephemera and some mist.  The layout actually came together really quickly once I had all my triangles cut out!  Here's the whole thing:
